Favorite/Best Lo-Fi/Home-Recorded albums
Synthesizer Patel replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
this here cd contains two albums on it - one is his work as leader of merry-go-round (he wrote time will show the wiser in that band, which fairport convention covered - you may know it) and the other album is one of his solo albums called "the american dream" - check out the track listing if you don't believe me. anyway, there's a little tip for you in purchasing some emitt rhodes. the other one of his really worth hearing is his self-titled debut solo album, but that is expensive to find, i'll admit. -

well, track 3 - cobwebs - is the best on the ep, if you ask me and then Seal Eyeing is next best. so you've still got the best to come. this is a stupid thing to say seeing as how the ep has only just leaked, but i can't wait for their full length album - hopefully it'll be out this year. if not it'll be the slowest year for them musically in ages.

I wonder if anyone has ever made a version of that album without them rapping over all the samples? I'd like to hear that, if they have . . . . And . . . I wonder if there will ever be a boy born that can swim faster than a shark?

It's interesting that apart from Led Zeppelin, all those bands had Nicky Hopkins playing on their music (I just thought about that when I read Analogman's Beggar's song list), during the period. (Although to be fair, with the beatles he used to put down the piano as a guide and then they'd record it themselves over him - although, again, saying that it is rumoured he played the actual piano on hey jude).

ok. i always took it to mean what i said, that's what confused me.

What do you mean by filler? I take that to mean that the people making the music are half-arsed on these tracks and just doing them to fill the gaps between the other songs. This is something I'd say was the polar opposite of everything on Pet Sounds. Someone said it about What's Going On? too, again that album was not made with that attitude in any way shape or form. Now, if someone says Help! is there favourite album, then you can say there is filler - cos there clearly is. Not that the filler songs are bad or otherwise, it's just that full effort was not put into every track on that album

you're looking in the wrong place. they're on amazon. get this: magnetic south / loose salute (it's a double, and great) certainly two of the best country rock albums i own.

The Official Star Wars thread
Synthesizer Patel replied to lamradio's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
someone has put together all the good bits of the last 3 films into one piece on youtube. you can watch it here there isn't much dialogue in it; it's only 4.57 minutes long; and it's all from The Phantom Menace, but it is certainly the only good thing from them they could salvage. i thought that the tv show they were going to do was going to be live action, or was that something else? (obviously with cgi too, as the man can't get his dick out of disc drive for long enough to see how shit it all looks, but with some real people in it none the less). -
that's good stuff. it got me thinking that maybe some people in here can help me out in choosing which mix of a song to go along with that i'm working on at the moment. so i've uploaded them all to here - showing 4 alt mixes, all differing in arrangements to see which bits people like best. i've got my favourite, which at the moment is the first one, but maybe people can change my mind on that. sorry, none of them have the vocals on yet cos i'm still working out all the harmonies for the backing parts, which is why it would be good to know which version is best to put them on to. they all have

you should check out Damaged - their latest one. nobody seems to mention it much, but the song writing is incredibly strong - "The Decline Of Country And Western Civilization" from that album is probably my favourite lambchop song, it's just brilliant lyrically.
