  1. I voted Mitt Romney cos he's got the best name!

  3. this'll sound great through my shitty tv speakers! thank god for dvd
  4. i live in kent, and about 20 minutes drive from sittingbourne - so i'll try and bare it in mind when i'm out and about. hopefully he'll get in touch soon, though.
  5. we've only just begun - the carpenters when that middle eight (which is kind of the chorus, but not - cos the song doesn't really have one) kicks in, it's a perfect moment.
  6. His first solo - titled "Stephen Malkmus" is my favourite by a long way, it sounds nothing like his other solo releases - it's very poppy, really. (listen to jo jo's jacket & phantasies here to see what i mean). Then Pig Lib is his second best.
  7. karl couldn't get up the money for the campaign costs?
  8. that idea of a literacy test is funny! surely the party in power would have to be thinking that their schooling system was pretty appalling in the first place for that to work - which it sounds like it must have been, but to actually think that as the government and play on it is very funny. i don't think you have to be literate to know what's going on, though. and i suppose if only 20% of the electorate got to vote, at least it would be 20% who knew what they were talking about. afterall you're voting for people that you feel know more than you about politics to run the country in the first
  9. what test did they do in the past? that sounds interesting that they'd do that. i'm talking about something which involves maybe quizing people on who said what in what manifesto? and stuff like that. so that they aren't just blindly voting based on personalities. edit: our system is entirely different from yours though, so i don't really know what i'm talking about beyond british politics.
  10. i think that people should have to take a test for the right to vote, otherwise you might as well allow children to vote too - their parents will either sway their vote, or they'll choose the one that they think smiles the best - which is essentially what a lot of adults do (in the uk). taking a test to prove you have some understanding on what you're having a say in should be vital in picking the best government for the times, surely? that's even worse than dick van dyke in mary poppins!
  11. that was totally ripped off of this tv show which was about actors made to look like how current celebrities would look when they got older, looking back on the past (but in fact it was now). If that makes sense. this was the best clip or when tony blair began to see ghosts is good too. what is interesting is how both countries politians talk the exact same bollocks.
  12. Haven't you ever seen a Martian in a big dress before? Skeptic!
  13. that's a good song. when i get to the border, though, was shockingly bad. is there a track list? cos hopefully that was just an outtake.
  14. You've obviously never heard Ronee Blakley's first two albums, or Robert Mitchum's 'Calypso Is Like So', and you're ignoring the fact that Tom Waits himself has done a fair bit of acting. Get with the programme or turn off the tv!
  15. yeah, i saw them too. i haven't ordered them yet though (they're out in march, i think). in todays world, though, it's very easy to get import cds, so i don't think you'll have to wait for american releases if you want them - they won't cost that much to get them posted from the uk to the us. they're only
  16. Pardon my french, but: FUCKING BRILLIANT!
  17. play them what you regard as their best songs, obviously. ignore the whole 'appealing to their rock side' thing, it will just get you laughed at again.
  18. you can order it from rough trade (the only place I know of where you can get it), it's out on 28th this month. it was released last year, like you say, but i'd imagine it was only in spain and with a very small run - probably self-released, even. Kalise is Brother Sport, don't you think?
  19. It is, isn't it? I only heard about him the other day, and after checking out his myspace page, then snagging his album on the interweb, I preordered a copy all within about 1 hour of finding out about it. It's what I can imagine the next animal collective album to sound like, from their live stuff at the moment.
  20. skeet skeet & the picaninnies - bogle by daylight
