What's with the riots?
Synthesizer Patel replied to Ghost of Electricity's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
well actually, no. we have MATHS. see, we put an S on the end of it. so, in answer to your question - no we don't have math. -
i just meant in their music. i'm not likely to meet them down the local pub any time soon. i mean, i could pick loads of music which i think is far far more puerile - but then that is all a lot of music aims to be, so i can't moan about that. i just have a problem with how these two bands have gone recently. i liked a lot of their older stuff (not loved, but liked enough to listen and be interested in what they do in the future) and i don't like this new stuff so much. yeah. i've seen some stuff on youtube. if they've got that much bbc sessions stuff (from that previous box set) i'd imagi

don't know. i just looked on amazon uk and it says order 1 to 3 weeks - which basically means it's either out of print or they've sold out the first run and are making more. so, some people are buying them. it does look fantastic. but, unfortunately i'm not made of money.

that is just so expensive i haven't even thought about it. i also think i'd not listen to it that much. the fairport albums, fotheringay and her first 3 solo albums are everything i'd want. now, if it was £50 i'd probably get it, but it's never going to be that price.

El Guincho - Bombay Not Safe For Work! I love the shot where they make a rainbow by hitting the lake/river with a stick, oh . . . and the boobies, of course!

don't know. i could definately do a list of albums i didn't like, and another one of albums i neither liked nor disliked. perhaps we should have 2 more threads for that - i don't want to start them though, cos some of those albums other people have put on their albums they liked lists in here.

Yeah, I saw - it's £25. I might wait and see if it comes down in price later on, can't afford that just for 1 cd.

wow. didn't know about that. has it been remastered?

whatever is chosen as his "best" - it should be titled Besterberg. that's my contribution

I don't read pitchfork, but it's a good best of album. i've actually got the whole boxset (well digitally, and not through any kind of legit means if you know what i means) and it's fantastic. i don't think i can afford to pay the price they are asking for it, but if it comes down in price a bit i'll definately be picking it up. the best of cd does seem very lacking compared to the box set, but it's still great.

it's got 4 great songs on it, and then a few maudlin ones. if you've only heard tea for the tillerman, i'd suggest you also get mona bone jakon & teaser and the firecat too - mona bone jakon is my personal favourite of his, and it's kind of a half way point between his singer songwriter style of tea for the tillerman and his earlier baroque pop songs.

They did remix the whole album when it got reissued, and I think the old mix is not as good as the current version. I think it's a great album, myself. Anyway, yeah Greil Marcus is often wrong, but he's just giving his view on things - he's no more right than me - but, he is interesting to read. NP

Impacted Wisdom & The Baby Teeth I don't know about the first bit - but i do really like The Baby Teeth as a backing band name.

It's not worth $80 - the packaging isn't written by Shakespeare or the dvd directed by Kurosawa, it's kind of a 1 watch-1 read deal, but that's always the case with this stuff, as far as I feel - however, the remastered album does sound great (I nabbed it in flac from somewhere). If you're not too bothered I'd wait until the release the album by itself. What I was going to say though, in regard to The Promise, is that I felt this way initially about The Rolling Stones Exile bonus disc, but I've actually grown to really love those songs - I don't think it's going to happen with The Promise, but

yeah, i've seen them - they're great. actually the best bit of separado! is when he plays Y Mynydd Hud (The Magic Mountain) at the end. do you know: is that going to be a b-side or something? because it's far too great just to appear on the film. the best bit about separado! actually, is how Gruff comes across as a person - he's one of the very very few famous people i've ever seen that you'd really like to be friends with - even when he's making Patagonian Grannies put their fingers in their ears at one of his shows in the village hall, they still come out saying it was good. one of -

You've really got to listen to a whole album to see how good they are, they do write great singles, but they always seem stronger when you listen to an album from start to finish. a bit like wilco in that respect. -

I've been liking them since Fuzzy Logic came out, I guess being in the UK meant it was easier to hear about them. I personally think they piss all over the other bands they were in competition with at the time; listening to all those other Brit Pop bands now - they all sound dated, and kind of boring to my ears. whereas super furry animals don't. at least half the songs on Fuzzy Logic should've been big hits - they did ok in the uk, but they never quite reached the level of Oasis or Blur, which turned out to be a very good thing! -

this is how we recruit new SFA Fans, we like to get them when they're down - so all those crying over Jeff and Jay not getting back together are perfect pray. we offer them a little light in their lives, and give it new meaning. we also go into jails. yeah, it's a bit manipulative, but it works! -

Have you checked them out yet? Here's Gruff's (he's the super furry animals front man) new single: -
I still can't get my head around the fact that the chorus is in the form of a middle eight - it's just insanely good.
