Favorite Bob Dylan one- or two-liners...
Synthesizer Patel replied to Atticus's topic in Someone Else's Song
I always thought he was saying "When asked, he built a fire on Main Street" But then I do mishear an awful lot of what Dylan is saying sometimes. -
They had intended to do a 'Who's Next' with that rock, little Susan Cowsill didn't want the exposure.

If by that you mean that you have the album, I don't suppose you can help me out please, could you? -
Well there goes one of the best theatre sized venues in W1. Brilliant, idea. I really liked the fact that you could sit upstairs on a table with a few people and watch the band rather than having rows and rows of seats, and the sound was pretty good too, both downstairs and upstairs. The fact that they are making it into shops is pretty funny concidering it is about 50 yards around the corner from Oxford Street and there is nothing else down the Charing Cross Road to attract people to go shopping down there specifically. Plus where are they going to hold G.A.Y now?!

Pitchfork's 200 greatest songs of the 1960s
Synthesizer Patel replied to Jaymie's topic in Someone Else's Song
Cool. I didn't see it in there, but they seemed to be mentioning a lot of that style of music and it made me think about them. People Get Ready is probably the most influential and well known, so that makes sense. -
I thought they would have gone for King Midas In Reverse, but they didn't.

Were The Impressions on the list? -
yeah, but you don't like Midlake, so you don't count. I don't mind The Decemberists and have a few of their albums on mp3, but have never liked them enough to buy an album so if it's different enough from their old stuff I might check it out.

Timberlake hopes Idol winner's not GAY!
Synthesizer Patel replied to tugmoose's topic in Someone Else's Song
I think what he meant was he can't carry a tune around in a bag because he only ever carries a purse. Although it's rumoured that Justin Timberlake can't carry a tune around in a bum-bag (or fanny-pack, whatever you silly Americans call them - either way, there's an innuendo there!). -

I was thinking about pointing out the same thing, glad you beat me too it. -
He also produced Stage Fright by The Band, which was nice.

If he's 29 then that poor bastard must have had a hard life so far, he looks more like he's approaching his 50s. Oh, but the idea of a single called "Sexyback" sounds amazing. I've never heard him, but I'll look out for this one for sure. EDIT: Sorry, I thought Hicks was releasing "Sexyback" not Justin Timberlake, now I've lost the interest in it. -

"if the farmer has no silo, then his fuel cost is running up very high well that's just how much I'd love you if you'd just only let me try" (all you have to do is dream) "the pawnbroker roared also, sorry, so did the landlord the scene was so crazy, wasn't it?" (she's your lover now) -
I only really use oink or any of these peer to peers to sample an album and make a decision about buying it or not, or hearing it before the release date, so FLAC is just a waste of time to me. I suppose it depends on what you use oink for though, I think if I was getting an album or piece of music that I knew wasn't commercially available or hard to find then I'd want the best quality.

Paris Hilton's new song and video
Synthesizer Patel replied to embiggen's topic in Someone Else's Song
She can sing, but she over does it on every single note. It's sounds like someone is wanking her throat. -
It's ok to break the rules as long as nobody complains. I did this recently with a Lavender Diamond/Becky Stark album I uploaded/seeded/whatever you call it because the bit rate was below 192 and someone pointed this out to me, but said ultimately the quality was still good and saw no reason to complain. A bunch of other people downloaded it and didn't complain either, I guess it just depends if some jobs worth gets annoyed about the fact that the free music you are giving them doesn't fit entirely into the rules or not. Basically, don't get too hung up on the rules because as long as you d

Paris Hilton's new song and video
Synthesizer Patel replied to embiggen's topic in Someone Else's Song
To me it's like some struttering answer song to Mambo No. 5 or something, but without any kind of enjoyment to it. There is something deeply horrible about her attitude to anything she sings about which I can't put my finger on exactly, but I know it's festering there somewhere. It would also have been nice to hear her break into You Give A Little Love from Bugsy Malone or something at the end, that would have been a nice touch and redeemed it somewhat - "You give a little love and it all comes back to you / You're gonna be remembered for the things that you say and do!" (but christina does -
"I got two legs of chicken and a half a pint of gin / I'll be full and feelin' good by the time that the bus pulls in" - creepin away then:

I wouldn't buy it, but I don't think I'd turn it off either like I would with 99% of American pop music, which takes itself way too seriously and has very little 'pop' to it. It's got a similar kind of feel to the Sugababes or Girld Aloud. The video is dog dirt though. push the button red dress biology -
"He think he bad, ain't got no class! I'm gonna rap this shotgun up his mu-tha fuck-in ass!" This is a modern trailer, but a great old film: for your height only (this is work friendly, pretty much anyway)

This should be good, as I am not a big fan of a lot of Willie's work (apart from Shotgun Willie, Phases And Stages and Red Headed Stranger) mainly because the production is pretty shody, and this will overcome that issue.
