All this horror talk made me watch this last night: Tonight I'm going to watch this: (The best name of a film ever, especially seeing as how it's not even set in Manchester, but The Lake District - it's called "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" in America I think)

That'd be quite a good way to get round the whole difficult second album problem. Just tell everyone that it was your first one again. NP.

That looks great. What does it sound like?

the house that jack built - aretha franklin the door to this house remains open - super furry animals mark already said the best ones though - shakin stevens.

You won't be disappointed. It's a great album. NP.

Good. Someone else who will actually understand my subtle references to All Creatures Great And Small, getting caught in the gully, and what time Pimms O'Clock actually is.

I can't understand why anyone would want to get caned to go see a rock show nowadays. I could see why in the past because most people just sat down on the floor, but smoking a spliff was never meant to be done in an upright position while you got pushed around by a crowd of people. If you want to mong out at a gig, why not smoke it or, as others have suggested, eat it before you go in and then lie on the floor in the corner up the back - therefore avoiding getting caught. Obviously the other thing would be to not give a damn what other people are doing and go ahead and do what you want - someo

reading people's discussions on this program are a lot more interesting for me than the actual show itself. all this talk of wrong cd's and stephen king books sounds great! i am going to view this season simply by reading this thread and make up a show i'd enjoy in my head.

New Clip from Sunken Treasure on wilcoworld.net
Synthesizer Patel replied to redeyednblue's topic in Just A Fan
thanks for pointing that out. great clip. what i don't understand is why the buggery-fuck his guitar has to sound so awful! the pick-up makes it sound like someone's stuck an elastic band over the strings. still going to buy it though, of course. -
Yeah, I agree.

this is cheaper: play.com as it includes postage costs

I was thinking more about songs like Cocaine, or Take A Whiff On Me, Codeine or even Bert Jansch's The Needle Of Death which was written in 1965, which are very explicit. Lyrics like this from Codeine, could easily have been on a Velvet Underground album: An' my belly is craving, I got shakin' in my head I feel like I'm dyin' an' I wish I were dead If I lived till tomorrow it's gonna be a long time For I'll reel and I'll fall and rise on codine An' it's real, an' it's real, one more time

You definately didn't hear songs about S & M, or none that I can think of anyway, but, there were certainly loads of songs about drug addiction - although perhaps they didn't glorify it in the same way I guess.

I think she's far better on her own albums myself. I'm not a fan of her tracks on VU & Nico, not that I hate them like you do, but they are the worse thing about the album certainly.

This makes it onto CD for the first time on Nov 6th. Just incase anyone's interested. I am not a fan of her other album - "It's so hard to tell who's going to love you the best", but this one is incredible.

Brilliant book. Actually I could have listed all his work as greats, but I stuck with Tom Sawyer. I might have gone for Mysterious Stranger too, but I'm not sure it counts as a book, more a (longer than most) short story.

General, not Soldier. I totally agree too. Pretty much all of Brautigan's books are special to me. I vote for: Moonfleet - J. Meade Falkner The Gambler - Fyodor Dostoevsky Tortilla Flat - John Steinbeck Slaughterhouse 5 - Kurt Vonnegut The Adventures of Tom Sawyer - Mark Twain The Coral Island - R.M.Ballantyne Edit: Forgot about - If Not Now, When? - Primo Levi, The Ogre - Michel Tournier & Hunger - Knut Hamsun (if you really want to feel bad about life)

Just heard this group today, and they are pretty good. Halfway Their album is out in November. The first track on myspace is pretty average, but it doesn't look like that'll be on the album. The second song, however, which is on the album, sounds pretty good to me. It has a very War on War style vibe to it, but with a country edge, sung by a softer Chris Robinson. Damn, I'm good with the silly similarities!
