What do you think? I was a little disappointed the first few times I heard it, apart from The Decline Of Country And Western Civilization which I thought was brilliant, but now I am really enjoying it. I Would Have Waited Here All Day and Fear are a couple of the tracks I am liking a lot at the moment. NP.

Anyone ever listen to any Delmore Brothers??
Synthesizer Patel replied to IRememberDBoon's topic in Someone Else's Song
do you mean the delmore brothers? if you do, then yes. if you don't, then no. if you do, then 'brown's ferry blues' is my personal favourite of theirs. -

Watched this earlier this morning. It came free with The Sunday Times newspaper. They've given away quite a few good dvd's each week recently, shame I had all the other ones already, but this one I didn't. The non Rolling Stones sections were not as dull as I thought they might be, so it was pretty enjoyable. I can see why Godard didn't like them tacking the final version of Sympathy For The Devil on the end, or rather you could see he had nothing to do with it as it broke the mood of the film for some reason.

That thought got me initially excited too. Are they actually working on one or have they split up/given up music etc?

Well obviously, but that's after you've listened to it. How on earth are you supposed to try and listen to new things unless you get some guidance from a source you generally trust to give you an idea of new artists? Personally I'd never buy an album based on a review, but I would search for the artist on a peer to peer and download some stuff or check out clips on amazon or something. If someone gives a review 5 out of 5 then I'll be interested enough to search for them on the internet, that's not being led by someone into buying something just because they say it's good, it's just opening up

I wouldn't beat yourself up about it. It's not really something that can be taught anyway, you either get it or you don't.

I don't really like it myself either, but I didn't like Rock N' Roll or Love Is Hell, then he released three albums that I really liked, so Ryan Adams hasn't changed at all, he's just doing what he always does - mixing it up a bit. I am sure he'll make something that I like in the future, maybe this next album (bar this track, if it makes it to the album), who knows?

The only reason I still buy uncut is for the cd (it's a good way of testing the water with a band, although they have been pretty poor recently) and also they generally like the same albums I do, which is often not the case with online sites such as pitchfork. If they give an album 5 stars, I'll generally think it is good too, whereas, again, that is often not the case with online sites. Anyway, what did they give the new dylan album? That's all I want to know for this month.

You must have the remastered version, right? Cos I don't think mine has a picture in it. I intend splashing out and getting them all when I am rich or someone offers to buy all the old ones off of me to help fund things. NP.

Beck - 'Think I'm in Love' Video
Synthesizer Patel replied to WildMercurySound's topic in Someone Else's Song
cheers matt sounds pretty cool to me. i do love that kind of dead drum and prominent bass sound. -
the original vinyl ep is a bit lacking, although i do like magical mystery tour and blue jay way. however, the cd is great as it's got baby, you're a rich man on it, which is my all time favourite beatles track ever! i've never seen the film although, seeing as how it's got ivor cutler in it, it must be pretty good.

Yeah, they are certainly nothing compared to the albums they've worked on with song writers. They are a bit like listening to something like Nashville West, which is good too, but Clarence White only really came into his own when he joined The Byrds and had some quality original material to work with. The good thing about these records though, is that you can study the music behind that late 1960's early 1970's sound and hear how it's put together without having the singer get in the way, and Kenny Buttrey is up there with Levon Helm as one of my favourite drums, it's also good to hear how Cha

I personally prefer Trip In The Country than the first album, but whatever album you've got, if you don't like it, I suggest you sell it as it's probably worth a fair bit of money - the cd reissue certainly is anyway.

Yeah, it's a great album. Bella Union are fast becoming my favourite label at the moment, and if Josh Pearson gets his arse into gear and release a solo album that fact will be even more so. (midlake are still the best band on the label though )

Yeah, they repeat it on tv pretty often in England. It's classic British Comedy. Although, I think Ronnie Barker is a bit better in Porridge (or at least the storylines are better), and David Jason can only ever be Del Boy from Only Fools And Horses in my eyes

I'm not too keen on that myself, it is ok, but I'm not a big fan of Country Joe McDonald's singing style. A few other albums worth checking out if you can get hold of them, involving Kenny and Charlie, are Area Code 615 and Trip In The Country, which are by their own band, Area Code 615 (they wrote and recorded Stone Fox Chase, which is the theme to The Old Grey Whistle Test). Another great album is Rig by Rig (another band Kenny was a part of). Also not forgetting that he was in The Stray Gators too.

He used the same two session musicians (Charlie McCoy & Kenny Buttrey) on Blonde on Blonde and McCoy also appeared on Highway 61 Revisted, don't know about Bringing It All Back Home, but I wouldn't be surprised (oh, they are also both on Nashville Skyline, which again isn't exactly the same sound as JWH). So you are totally right in one sense for picking them to make the sound, but it wasn't a case of them being people that he called on to make a particular sound because otherwise all those other albums would sound the same. They don't though. It is also interesting to note that they did p
