    Two Questions

    1) I "married in" - my husband was quite shocked and upset that I hadn't heard of them before - this was when we first started dating in 1999. He first heard of them through a friend and a little known concert they did at Marble Mountain in Newfoundland in the late 90's. I continue to campaign for Wilco's return to the Rock! 2) I really never like to talk about my first Wilco concert because it never happened. After hearing them for years in the background, in the car etc... I really began to take a liking to their music (so much so, if you read previous posts, my husband was like - you nee
  2. Alright - here's the deal - I had to work the first 2 games (Van won) - was off and watched the next 2 games (Bos won) - was working the next one (Van won) and was off and watched the last one (Bos won)... so it looks as if it is all down to whether I work tomorrow or not... and I don't! Congrats Boston!
  3. Geez - I work in a grocery store and would sincerely love to hear Wilco play during one of my shifts - it's mainly obscure 60's, main stream 70's and 80's, and then Celine Dion... That being said, I don't know what reaching grocery store background noise status means to ones musical career - maybe I'm glad I haven't heard them at work yet...
  4. Awesome! I am happy to report that his obsession has since moved to digging for worms in Mommy's garden. (Great!) We have always let the kids watch movies and play with toys that are above their age recommendation. We have always explained to them that movies aren't real. Hence, they thought Army of Darkness was the funniest thing ever. It was just so cute when a neighbours child came over to watch a movie one afternoon and my then 5 year old said "Now remember, movies aren't real. Music is real!" Would have brought a tear to her fathers eye!
  5. My husband would like to ask "Why Nels Cline"?
  6. What was the idea behind the loft? Was it to have the artistic freedom and a creative space or just because your significant others complained about the noise coming from the basement? If so, can you recommend some god sound proofing tips?
  7. There are always assless chaps, my friend!
  8. Given the band has released a double-live album in the past, would you consider releasing an unproduced live-track for the new album? If so, which one? Should I go to bed and quite drinking now?
  9. To Jeff: how do your poetic thoughts transfer into lyrics and melodies? Which usually comes first? To John: Do you always wear the same shoes for a gig?
  10. And the just plain silly question -like how to you sleep in the tour bus without bumping your head when it has to stop or rolling out of the bunk when it makes a sharp turn?
  11. Nels is such an amazing musician and human being in general. But I've always wondered if at any point in time his creative expression has been limited by his instrument.
  12. I know I am lucky to have him addicted to Star Wars - trust me - it was Jurassic Park 5 times a day before. I was happy to transfer the obsession elsewhere. His birthday was in March and we had rented Empire before, so I asked his uncle to get him the trilogy. This was after much debate, as we weren't sure to start him off at the beginning or with episode 4 like when we were kids. (Am I really that old.. ) So he got the "first" trilogy for his birthday and a re-release of a Snow Speeder. He always had this unique way of referring to things, for example, the "At-At"'s (I apologize to the g

    Goodbye Wilco

I'm sorry but maybe if you are willing to give up belief in a band based on the actions of a few then you weren't meant to enjoy the band in the first place - stay home and listen to your vinyl dude!
  14. How sure are they about his death? I mean, Saddam had WMD as well...

  19. But how can one be sure that the radiation found in somewhat minute particles in North America can be attributed to the Japanese disaster. We have many nuclear plants on this side of the ocean as well... was any testing done here before the troubles in Japan?
  20. Just missing St. John's Folk Fest by a day or two...
  21. Perhaps the Edmonton Folk Fest is all I might get a chance to see. Kids are free, so that's OK.
