2 bouts of bad news in 2 days - first a couple down the street - the father was a pilot who died in a waterbomber crash fighting fires in BC a few days ago - left a wife and 4 beautiful girls. Then my next door neighbours from small town middle of nowhere die in a car crash last night in SK. So sad.. hard to process. Need Wilco a lot tonight... Bottle of red doesn't hurt either... AJ

Is there an official list of acronyms for Wilco songs?
-
Why not the move to their own record label after Yankee Hotel Foxtrot? Why so long?

Oh the suspense!

Look up Jian and Billy Bob Thorton - don't know what was said but dear old Billy Bob just walked out!

Such a beautiful song - my current fix. I only have it from Kicking Television - pardon my ignorance but which album is it from?

My kids like Wilco as well, but also tend to favour Daddy's music over mine. Very diverse - From Lucinda Williams, The New Pornographers to Slayer. In terms of actual kids music, they like a group called Bobs and Lolo. Also, movie music is hot in our house - especially the Pink Panther theme and the theme from Jaws. (I usually chase after the kids like a shark!) As an aside, because of this my 3 year old son calls sharks "do-do's"

Where's "Radio Cure"?

Perhaps I am in error - I apologize. Unfortunately I cannot replay the DVD due to multitudinous (sp?) playing/scratches to post the exact quote. While I agree it was playing John in a positive light, another line-up change might still be possible given the bands previous history of turn around.
-
In the Ashes DVD, during the segment on John, he talks about how the band could withstand one more line up change (as long as it wasn't John). Any thoughts?

How about Wilco shirts seen while out and about - went to week 4 of daughters art lessons wearing mine and one of the other Dad's was wearing his Wilco shirt.

I was thinking it might be the only Wilco song with a count in - but there's also The Thanks I get... any more?
-
- the high-hat in Side with the Seeds - any part of One By One - my current fav Wilco song (it changes weekly) - the count in to It's Just that Simple - What's the World got in Store - only lyrical use of the word "baby"? - plus the organ solo, kinda Blue Rodeo-ish.

Kamera all the way!

Good ol Newfoundland - I wish they would play there again. It would be awesome to see them in my home province!
-
I was trying to get my 5 year old to design a shirt for them that was a little more girly - she didn't like her froggy shirt anymore. It was a no go...

What's with the pimp outfit though?
-
Unrelated - but I miss the rugs... made it a bit more "homey"...

Although was not lucky enough to partake in "an evening with", I still hold in high regard any band that embarks on a tour through Canada in February. I was also quite impressed (and grateful!) that Edmonton was included. Still, I really feel that Newfoundland needs some Wilco lovin'. The Edmonton show was my 5-year old daughter's first concert, and I can tell you her highlights included having a virgin Shirley Temple in a big girl wine glass (not sure if as parents we are giving the right impression), playing on the escalators during the intermission, and the Califone song about the brid

Anyone else out there married to a "basement musician"?
AJ673 replied to AJ673's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Welcome to VC! Alright, let's talk soundproofing - we have an unfinished basement slightly furnished with various musical instruments, including a second-hand circa 1970's drum kit. We are thinking of starting contruction soon and this issue is first on my list. I know that when we insulate the ceiling downstairs that will prevent some sound from travelling upwards. Just looking for some ideas.
