  3. Who knows. It could be that he knows they will probably never sell a ton of albums again. So I guess touring is all they have left. I think Joe must forget that he was once replaced. I figure they will name that guy Joe hired, or find someone else who can imitate Steven better. That is what these sort of bands do these days. It certainly won't work if they get someone who sings the songs in a totally different way.
  4. I bet he will say something. For the majority of the world, Aerosmith is Steven Tyler (and right behind him, Joe Perry). And Joe just implied that Steven is replaceable, just like the guys in the band you never hear about (unless something bad happens to them). This whole deal may have one good thing about it - someone is putting up a whole bunch of Aerosmith shows at Dime a Dozen. I have not grabbed any of them, but I might grab the 74 show that someone posted that other day. They must need to buy another mansion, or another sports car. This does not surprise me though. I said as much a

  6. I could never really get into any of those NY bands, but I have always loved Blondie and The Ramones. Clem Burke is heck of a drummer. (He actually played drums for The Ramones for a couple of shows in the late 80s.)
  7. I heard some news this morning on the AM radio that Conan has signed off on a big settlement. I also read somewhere yesterday that this coming Friday may be his last show (on NBC). I sort of thought this would happen. I could never really see his style of comedy fitting into the long established slot of The Tonight Show. I don't know the average age of the person watching, but I have always figured that The Tonight Show drew a more mature viewing audience. Unlike a lot of people, I don't really have any memories of watching the show back when Carson was on. I am sure I saw it, but I don'
  8. That's it. I once read a post on Pete's blog (some years ago) where he took Dave to task for some things he said in that book. I like the part where they are amazed that the Dead played so many different songs. At the time (1976), Keith actually had a set list painted on the side of one his drums.
  9. I recall those shows. We have talked about them a few times around here. The old folks, that is.
  10. I can tell from your other post that you grew up a communist. That must have been hard.
  11. I got into R.E.M. sometime in the 1990s, and although I seldom listen to them now, I still think they were a great band. I also got into Radiohead over the past few years. Although, I think O.K. Computer (or half of it, really) is the albums I like the best. There was a time of course, when I would have never listened to either of those bands. There are probably some more, but that is what comes to mind at the moment.
  12. I always thought that was a weird mix. Pete was in his Soccer Hooligan/New Romantic/New Wave/dressing up like a teenager phase around that time (early 80s). Dave Marsh talks about that time in the Who book he wrote. I can't recall what the deal was exactly. I just remember a passage where Pete meets with Jerry and asks him to do the dates The Who were suppose to do. I think the 1989 tour was "The Who On Ice" as Pete calls it. They had a whole bunch of players on stage with them.
  13. They took over a tour that The Who were suppose to do. Pete played with them. I think there are clips of if out there. It was a Rockaplast show (if I recall correctly).
  14. They actually played some shows together in 1976. (Of course, the people who post in this thread know that.) Oddly enough, I have known about The Who since around 1977, but I did not get into the Grateful Dead until sometime in the 1990s.
  15. You may not want to mess with it - due to the fact that it takes some configuring to work with your disc drive. Or, at least it use to take some configuring. I don't know if it does now or not, as I have not bothered to grab a new version. It's no big deal. The show will appear somewhere at some point.
  16. Did anyone watch this last night? American Pickers Antique Archaeology I have been watching Youtube videos of these dudes since 2008 or so. It was nice to see that they got a show on the History Channel.
  17. Leno anticipates return to 11:30, lauds O'Brien
  18. I think I read somewhere that a former ShowCo employee may the one who is making them available.
  19. Do you use EAC to rip?
  20. What's really nice is some dude paid a couple hundred bucks for that show, and then shared it. I read something a while back about some bootlegger complaining about BT putting him out of business. Now that is funny.
  21. I have spent the day grabbing Zeppelin SBD shows. There is a new one out -
  22. It's up early today: Taper's Section (January 18, 2010 - January 24, 2010)
  23. Neil should get him to open up some shows the next time he tours.
