  1. That is partly due to the fact that Chas Chandler was gone, and therefore, Jimi was in control. You have to understand that Chas Chandler's vision for Jimi mirrored what he had been through with The Animals. That is, to take raw unrestrained playing, and turn it into a three minute hit song. You can see the change from that sort of thinking start to development on Avis: Bold as Love. Oddly enough, that is how Jimi ended up with Mike Jeffries as he was The Animals manager, and managed Chas, if I recall correctly. Chas sold his interest in Jimi to Jeffries. And it also has to do with time, tec
  2. I heard Jeff is going to hand those out to the nice people here for Christmas. For those of use who are bad, he is going to give us the fake stereo versions from the old days.
  3. I never got into them either. I have read a lot about the band though. They have actually been together since 1973. There have been several of their shows up at bt.etree.org as of late.
  4. The Manson deal. It's something I was taught as a kid - hence, we were not allowed to listen to that song. It must be some sort of conditioning deal. Is that ride at some sort of Beatles theme park?
  5. At least he didn't break any bones this time. I hope he comes out with a good album eventually.
  6. I believe Paul said they were moved to do that after hearing about some Who song that was suppose to be nasty/heavy. I actually can't really deal with listening to Helter Skelter due to what I think of when I hear the song.
  7. At least he is making music again. As you may know, he said he was finished with music a while back. As an old school album/cd guy, it will take me some time to get use to a band just selling a track or two online. I guess he is sort of following Radiohead's lead. Plus - as I have said before, I am not paying money for Mp3 files. If there comes a day when that is all there is, then so be it.
  8. And selling Mp3s, vanity press books, and writing magazine columns.
  9. He must like that song, I noticed that he seems to play it every night.
  10. So, the song is about Johnny "Guitar" Watson, not Johnny Guitar.
  11. Taper's Section September 21 - September 27, 2009 They are really turning out the products these days: Grateful Dead Scrapbook: Deluxe Edition
  12. That is a clip from A Film About Jimi Hendrix. I have the soundtrack, and the film on video. It is out on DVD now.
  13. Although it will take some clicking, you can utilize the links below to find out if a show where the song was played is available: Wilcobase listing for Not For The Season. Wilcobase listing for Laminated Cat.
  14. I think the story goes that he checked in his bags, but never got on the plane. He is also suspected of being behind the incident of Hendrix being kidnapped. You can read about all of this in various Hendrix books. I would recommend this one:
  15. Interesting. A lot of people seem to think he faked his death and went into hiding with large sums of money.
  16. According to all Hendrix books I have read, and documentaries I have seen, Michael Jeffery was a pretty shady character. This has always been the statement about his death:
  17. It could be that you would like the latter Hendrix. I am much more inclined to want to hear Straight Ahead, than say, Foxy Lady. Speaking of mysterious rock star deaths, I read a while back that the death of Brian Jones is being looked into again. He and Jimi were close friends.
  18. I see. You are just stirring up shit for the hell of it. I guess you can do that as long as you can get away with it.
  19. I wonder how she and Arlo get along then. (Supposedly, he converted to Christianity.) I suppose I have to wonder why he has not did anything with the lyrics. Or maybe he has. I am not really familiar with his work.
  20. I hesitate to say this, but what you are doing Mr. Crow is not really helping the situation. If you do something over and over again, and it upsets people, "I am only joking" does not really work after a while. I have noticed that you have been posting such things a lot as of late. What I have learned is that if someone makes it a point to constantly note such negativity, then ultimately they are really just creating more negative space. It's best to just let it go. If no one responds to such posts, or post in a thread that is clearly bullshit, then it will sink out of sight. I don't say th
  21. I don't know who keeps leaving those old RS issues there, but I grab them as I find them. So far, the issues I have found are in pristine condition. Speaking of Rolling Stone live albums/concert films, I am still waiting for an official DVD release of this one: Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones. I have a bootleg of it I found online.
