  1. I can tell a difference right away. To me, there is a clarity that was not there before. I have only listened to a few tracks, and probably won't hear them all until I buy the cds some day. My first thought was that they are a bit bright sounding. I should mention that I only listen to music with headphones on - not by way of any sort of stereo system.
  2. That makes me think of: Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
  3. Here is the thread that lists both sources.
  4. I believe John was still being driven around in the Rolls-Royce at the time.
  5. It was only released in stereo. And like a lot of live albums, there are studio overdubs on several of the tracks.
  6. I have The Joshua Tree 2 disc deal. It is a pretty nice package. I would like to have the box that came out with the earlier albums, but have not bought it yet. I think it is still around 70 dollars at Amazon.
  7. Hats off to Mr. Swayze. The Outsiders (1983) Grandview U.S.A. (1984) Steel Dawn (1987)

  9. I have not read all of this (yet)- but it looks like there are some answers here: Help (a pretty lengthy breakdown - track by track) A 1987 interview with George Martin by Allan Kozinn Fest for Beatles fans sheds light on remasters Wog Blog
  10. The stereo mixes we are hearing now were done by George Martin in the 1980s.
  11. I was able to go backstage at the show and meet him. He did not want to be bothered at the time. The people I was with sort of pushed the issue. Looking back, I can see that we were wrong to bother him.
  12. Usually, people seem to write off the early stuff and begin to say everything was great starting with Rubber Soul. Of course, we had a different tracklist. And we got Yesterday and Today.
  13. The White Album was the last Beatles album to be mixed both in mono and stereo. I believe by 1968 stereo was becoming the norm, not the exception.
  14. He does not like the mix of the album. I figured that was going to happen when it did not come out with the other (non-ABKCO) re-masters a while back.
  15. I was wondering if they were new or old. I don't think I recall hearing those songs.
  16. I would be surprised if the Stones had much to do with this release, as it is among the albums owned by ABKCO. I guess they have to sign off on it somewhere along the line. I think this list is right:
  17. I saw that on Rolling Stone.com (and forgot about it): I think we are going to see a release like this with the Exile On Main Street album.
  18. I am curious to hear what those two new songs sound like, but I am not paying for Mp3 files.
