R.E.M. Spins 'Accelerate' Rehersal Gigs Into New Live Release -
I suppose one of the reasons they can get away with that is due to the fact that those live cds were self-released. They did not use Instant Live or some other company. I don't know how Blues Traveler gets away with this: I read some posts once about someone getting in trouble for doing that with the Black Crowes Instant Live discs.

RAR is a what the Mp3 files are housed in - it is like WinZip. I suppose they are available in FLAC on a BT site somewhere out there. I have several of them. I bought them when they came out.

That's pretty strange. Blues Traveler apparently allows the torenting of the live cds they sell, as they only sell them at shows. Usually, when a band sells cds of a show, there are all sorts of warnings with regards to sharing them online. I take it those files are Mp3 files.

What is even more surprising is that a cassette tape that old would even be playable. I still have the first cassettes I got (around 1977) and a few years ago I tried to play some of them. The tapes snapped almost immediately. I suppose it also depends on the brand. The ones I have are cheap. I did manage to digitize a tape from the early 1980s a few years ago, but I think it was due to the fact that it was in a case, and was a more expensive brand of tape. I suppose my initial doubts also had to do with what I have read about early tapers in the Grateful Dead tapers books I have. If I reca

I think it goes sort of like this.

When you do, you should let the guy who's site I posted above know about it. I am sure he would like to know, and could help you with it.

What year? I only say that as cassette machines/cassettes were not all that common in the the time period of say, 1968-1970. As far as I have read, anyhow. I have heard of things like this popping up from time to time. Actually, there was a taper who never put his stuff from the early 70s out there before who is now sharing.

You can't - that is a Bit Torrent site. You have to know how to do Bit Torrent, sign-up with the site, and then download it.

I doubt the cassette is the master tape, most likely, it is a dup from a reel to reel recording. This is a great site to check such things: In from the Storm • Unofficial Jimi Hendrix Material

I've never heard of that. I have quad sound on my receiver. You are making me think of the trick we use to do with headphone jacks back in the day. Actually, I think I have seen some tracks out there where someone has manipulated Beatle songs using that very trick.
-
One thing I never messed with much - Beatles releases on tape. I have Beatles VI, and Let It Be. I think those are the only two I ever bought. As I recall, the Beatles VI tape sounds absolutely terrible.

Of course, the track listing is also different on the Capitol releases. I noticed that the price of those Capitol CD boxes is dropping for the first time.

So we are getting a new transfer of the mix the George Martin did.

Rob. Don't worry, it will be there eventually.

I don't know if this is still correct or not: Please login (Wilcoworld link) If you do a search in this section, you will find a lot of threads about the DVD downloads. But - I think all of those old links don't work anymore - since they changed things around on their website.

That's right. You are an old dude. I hope the master tapes did not get trashed back in the 1990s. It could be that they are simply to far gone to do a new digital transfer. That is probably talked about somewhere, but there is so much stuff out there about these releases, I may have missed it.

That's good point. I still feel that way. And - The whole ider of The Monkees comes from The Beatle movies.
