Rolling Stones to reissue Get Your Ya Ya's Out
Analogman replied to Col. Hapablap's topic in Someone Else's Song
I don't know who keeps leaving those old RS issues there, but I grab them as I find them. So far, the issues I have found are in pristine condition. Speaking of Rolling Stone live albums/concert films, I am still waiting for an official DVD release of this one: Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones. I have a bootleg of it I found online. -
Yet another informative post from Thrasher's Wheat.

Rolling Stones to reissue Get Your Ya Ya's Out

Oddly enough, at the laundromat yesterday morning I found the issue of Rolling Stone from 1987 that lists the best live shows, and the Madison Square show is listed in there. Jimi Hendrix - RS 501 (June 4, 1987) -

Of course, there is also this famous bootleg. The link is to a Audio Blog. He has the show up in FLAC or Mp3. Rolling Stones - Live R Than You'll Ever Be (1969) -
I have not heard the album yet, I will be getting it Tuesday. I don't think I have listened to the last one more than twice, so I am probably wasting my money.

A review by way of No Depression: REVIEW: Big Star: Keep An Eye On The Sky (box set) I actually never got into Big Star. I am a big fan of The Box Tops though.

There is mention of that on Expecting Rain today: Johnny Rivers - Positively 4th Street (Youtube link). I use to have the album that song is on when I was a teenager. It is called Realization(1968).

It's certainly the first new album (not that I buy very many new albums) that I have really gotten into for a while.

I saw this story online at various places a while back:

I learned that from a Black Sabbath song - Am I Going Insane (Radio). I was reading some comments about this album on a Dylan message board yesterday - pretty funny.

Cockney Rhyming Slang (Radio rental is slang for mental - crazy)

I believe I saw some recent Son Volt shows up at Dime a Dozen.

I would be surprised if Jay will call the album Mermaid Ave III. And of course, it's going to be compared to the albums that Wilco/Billy Bragg created some years ago. I still wonder why Bob Dylan does not do something with the Guthrie material.

I suppose I began reading Beatles books in the mid to late 1970s, and usually just read all the ones I can find. I've often thought that Shout is a good bio type book, but of course, there are hundreds (thousands) of them out there. The Tony Bramwell book is pretty good - for learning about some behind the scenes type history. I have said this before, but the deal with Spitz is that his book is mainly constructed out of Albert Goldman's research files that he left behind. It will be interesting to read Lewisohn's new book, as he is somewhat of an insider. It could be there are some listed h

I should have mentioned that option. I often get books by way of the library that are out of print. I think the last one I read was the book about the Apple organization, and/or the Tony Bramwell book. I would like to have The Beatles Gear book. I have read it, but I do not own it.

Something outside of Peter, Paul, and Mary - I believe these clips are from the T.V. show Cass had (briefly): Cass Elliot, Mary Travers & Joni Mitchell - I Shall Be Released Mary Travers - And When I Die I think recall hearing one of those albums back in the very early 1970s. It was probably Puff, the Magic Dragon (which later was made into a cartoon). I can't say that I was ever into their music, really. But I respect what they did - and of course, they helped bring Dylan to a wider audience.

Of course, it's not the first time he has done such a thing. I caught that due to the mention of it in the torrent of the show that is up at bt.etree.org.

I was surprised to see them listed on Amazon the other day (at such a high price). I knew the original hardback was going for that much, but I didn't know the re-print/revised edition was going for that much. The original hardback edition has different photos in that than the re-print. I think I got that book for 20 bucks on some sale table in a book store. I can't recall where I got the re-print. I think I have read that he is working on a Beatles biography book. You would think they would be re-printed when his new book comes out. Or at least they should. Yes, but it is very expensive.

There is an interview with that guy in the Mark Lewisohn book I have mentioned around here a few times.
