Almost that time of the year. Top 10 albums of 2016
Analogman replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I don't even care for Pink Floyd all that much - but that Fat Old Sun is great. I feel the same way about Mudcrutch 2. I think he wanted the other guys to have more say. That does not work. The first album is great. Not to upset you - but I could not get into the new CRB album. I didn't bother with the E.P. -
That song is great. It was actually recorded during the making of Goats Head Soup. Which is a terrible title - but an overlooked album. LZPG

Thanks for the information. He must have done that in a lot of venues.

Now the guy who runs Crowesbase is putting up board tapes of shows -

Check this out:

Maybe not for the GD - but I think there were for other bands and sporting events. Maybe he just filmed the shows to have a record of it. Is one of those shows the show or encore where Jerry is jumping around playing his guitar?
-
Wasn't there a system where people would pay to watch such a thing at a movie theater?
-
I believe Bill Graham's organization filmed shows back in the day. I don't recall what the reasoning was - just to have a record of the event, close circuit viewing somewhere else, etc.
-
Derek on WTF with Marc Maron I've never heard Derek talk - let alone talk that much.

I think there is already a pinball hall of fame. Although - maybe not one for rock star machines. Now I am remembering the days of playing a KISS pinball machine.
-
Maybe that is another hall of fame - bands that have their own video games.
-
I don't remember that. Of course, I never played video games. That wasn't in the 80s was it?
-
When I was a young fellow - a lot of people wore Journey shirts. I figure they made a lot of money off of merchandising.

The Sex Pistols are frauds.
-
That's right. I saw that in the interview.
-
I guess Dave (PJ drummer) is raising hell about not being invited to the ceremony.
-
Rolling Stone online has interviews with some of the guys - Jon Anderson seems pretty funny. Which I never think of him as being funny. I hope Bill is up there on the stage. Such a fantastic drummer.

Gabriel Iglesias: I'm Sorry For What I Said When I Was Hungry (taped in Chicago) Were any of you at the taping? This may be his best one yet.

This will be a great time for them to finally get Steve back in the band. Then they go back on tour and play those same few songs for a number of years. I always hated that band. Of course, the early albums are a different animal. But I never got into those either. And Yes can get Jon back and do a re-union tour. I am glad Pearl Jam is getting in there. One of the greatest bands of all times. I don't think I will buy any new albums they make - but they are still great.

I am watching The Office all the way through. Which I have not done - since it was on TV. That show is so great. (I have watched the British version several times now. It is also great - of course.) Also - Defiance - I started watching.
-
I bailed on Mr. Robot about 3 episodes into the 2nd season. I watch the whole run of The Wire over Thanksgiving break.

Let's hope it does not get edited down to nothing before we get to see it:

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band
Analogman replied to Sweet Papa Crimbo's topic in Someone Else's Song
I read the book over the weekend. It is quite a roller coaster of a book. The 2nd part I found pretty sad but honest. I noticed there is not much about Gary or Roy after they are first mentioned. Maybe nothing actually. I liked how he referred people to Tracks. I suppose a lot of that early stuff is well known (by way of the Marsh books) but of course Bruce was actually there. So he has more to say about it. It is has been years since I read those Marsh books. OR the book Mike Appel wrote.
