Whenever I see some major band mention the "collector community" I always think of shadowy people lurking around darkened corners. Almost sort of a Men In Black deal.

This morning:

Here's my latest thing to play if I had a show: Sunset Love - Winter's Day
-
He is probably too tied up with his radio show. I also wonder when the new Trigger Hippy album will come out.
-
I think the songs from the new album are better live. I have to not been able to get into the new one all that much.
-
Exactly. I suppose there are all sorts of fantasy Beatles 1970 tour lists out there.
-
I guess that is all they had then - the side speakers. I suppose when I think of monitors I think of the front wedge monitors. I know there are also photos of Hendrix out there with such things sitting on a chair on the side of the stage. And Monterrey Pop - as seen int he film. I am curious about this Buffalo Springfield claim. I am thinking also that you can see such things in the Rolling Stones 69 tour film. I suppose for Dylan - the tour in 1974 must be the first time he had the use of a modern sound system.
-
I think that is right. There is a bunch of talk about this in the GD Gear book.
-
This is interesting:
-
I think I have always read or heard that sort of this did not start until after Woodstock. I see that is not true. It must have come along at some point in the 60s.
-
I suppose we have to remember there was no sort of soundboard or monitor system back then. They probably could not hear themselves very well. I think the first time I recall seeing such a thing was little speakers on the stage at Monterrey Pop. There must be some sort of book out there that gives the history of such things.
-
Alan White is currently out of the band also.
-
Yea - they could have put Down By The Seaside or some other track on there instead.
-
That's interesting. I would think he was probably pretty strung out during that tour. I think as time (decades) go by I just prefer acoustic Dylan more than whatever else he does.
-
I think it has always been my favorite one. It could be partly due to the story behind the making of the album and the mysterious wheel artwork. I am glad to see (hear) that the squeaky bass drum pedal has been left intact on the newest remasters.

October 5th 1970 Still my favorite LZ album
-
I walk by the place where I bought that and hundreds of other cds everyday. It is now an apartment rental office. Totally weird.
-
Holy hat - that was released in October 1998.
-
Plus I am a weirdo and actually prefer the acoustic set over the electric set.
-
I was wondering about that when I first saw it mentioned. I don't know if I will bother buying that 2 disc version or not. I am thinking I won't if the set list is the same as the release from a few years ago.
-
Oh I meant another band. I just didn't want to say who. Also the Hendrix Estate has been doing this for years.
-
I wonder about all of that also. I suppose there are a number of Dylan obsessives out there that could track down a 50 year old cassette tape. I was reading the comments on a torrent once on Dime a Dozen. It turns out a member of the band in question does indeed grab the shows, messes with them, and then sells the shows.
-
I find that sort of shady selling AUD shows. I wonder what they were recorded on? A dictation machine? Of course they are not the first to do such things.
-
That's it.
