  1. They have done good things, some great songs, some longevity, some actual talent, some great live shows. But I don't think they have the spark that makes them worthy of HOF. I have nothing against progressive rock, and I'm happy Pink Floyd has made it, though it shouldn't even be a forethought. My main gripe is with the fans that think Rush invented and defined progressive rock, because they didn't. The Beatles. Pet Shop Boys. Pink Floyd. Led Zeppelin. The Who. There's nothing wrong with borrowing heavily from other bands, as long as you unearth something refreshing out of it. But th

  3. Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded: The Re-Up I like the cover of the first. The appended material (The Re-Up) seems much stronger than the extremely lofty core album. Then again, can you trust someone that finds Come On A Cone hilarious and genius? But, I probably won't listen either again. Cloud Nothings - Attack On Memory
  4. By the way, has anyone seen Damien Lewis in Life? I really loved the witty writing in that show, even though the skeletal plot was weak. I thought Damien Lewis drew a lot from Life for his role in Homeland since they have some crossover.
  5. The writing in Homeland's season 2 has just blown me away. Even if I have no clue what the overall season will try to argue, each episode has wonderful character analysis and momentum. For the entire first season, Damien Lewis and the show worried me because Lewis kept on returning to his cues from Life (TV series). But, (spoilers) Damien Lewis's performance in season 2 has changed my minds and dissipated most of my worries. I have heard some people worry about the 24-ization of Homeland with its plot twists. I'm semi-worried; but, the consequences are coming, and hard.
  6. I don't think Electr-O-Pura quite captured the western/quieter/folkier/bluesier side of Yo La Tengo. It's mostly focused on alternative and noisy rock, with a couple detours like the underappreciated Paul Is Dead. Even most of the quieter detours have an organ or some other hum backing them. I love Electr-O-Pura, but I don't think it's anywhere as diverse as I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One. Electr-O-Pura is definitely more cohesive.
  7. Their current lineup formed around the time they released Painful. But I think most fans agree that their albums started shining around May I Sing With Me and Fakebook. Most people regard I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One and And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out as their masterpiece albums. Autumn Sweater, You Can Have It All, Sugarcube, and Our Way To Fall have seen high numbers of listen according to Last.fm if you're looking for singles and songs. If you have the time, start from the beginning and just work chronologically. If you need a litmus test, go with I Can Hear The Hear
  8. There's a lot of unknown and wide assumptions in the argument, and they're not all conclusive. The math is definitely against Pandora and Spotify. But if you're moving more than enough product, then Spotify/Pandora acts more like New York Times streaming your album, except forever. Spotify/Pandora/etc. may help boost sales, but you certainly should not rely on it to profit nor should you look at it as a main avenue of profit. I'm still a fan of Spotify (but not Pandora), and I still buy albums if I feel an artist deserves my money. I go out to concerts and sometimes buy merchandise I fav

  10. Stupid Things did not sound bad. Let's see how different Stupid Things sounds on Fade. And is it just me, or does the cover evoke/remind you of Summer Sun?
  11. Oneida - A List Of The Burning Mountains
  12. Andy Stott - Luxury Problems Just like Portishead, I'm not sure I can call it music. But there's something very alluring about it, and I think it's wonderful. Also, I want to call this the spiritual successor of TV On The Radio's Return To Cookie Mountain. EDIT: Tim Hecker and Daniel Lopatin - Instrumental Tourist Daniel Lopatin is also known as Oneohtrix Point Never. Experimental electronic music Monday continues.

Frank Ocean - Channel Orange Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V for the win. Also, Metz's self-titled debut is quickly ascending the ranks. I wish I knew why I could love Metz but not Nirvana.
  15. Metz - Metz Well, that was fun. Reminds me of The Men a bit. Daphni - Jiaolong
  16. Kendrick Lamar - Section.80 Kendrick Lamar - good kid, m.A.A.d. city I hate when titles are in random capitalizations for superfluous reasons. It's not artistic license. Your form is bad and you should feel bad. Got that, Merrill Garbus? With that aside, let's check out the hype.
  17. To be fair, I can't be sure anyone on here knows what trolling is given Wilco's demographic. However, I think a couple of the people that are mainstays of Someone Else's Song and Tongue Tied-Lightning have proven that they're up to date. Then again, this is the internet: supposedly, everyone trolls.
  18. Godspeed You! Black Emperor - 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - Lost Songs Mac DeMarco - 2 In the running for the laziest album cover of the year next to that Spiritualized one. Lindstrøm - Smalhans
  19. Neil Young - Psychedelic Pill Look, Neil Young, you're awesome, but your website is awful: it's taxing for most casual users' machines, it looks worse than an M.I.A. album cover, and it's difficult to navigate. Ugh.
