I would rather get the lyrics of those first two songs tattooed, large, on my chest than even listen to the third once through. That album was a musical hate crime.
-
Yup. Seconded.

Thanks for the reply, RaspberryJam - much appreciated!

Thank you, SpiritDove. Good to know.

Speaking of the porta-potties, I've been meaning to ask any of you previous attendees about the cleanliness of the toilet facilities. We'll have our 4yr old daughters with us, and for obvious reasons I'm hoping things aren't too gross. Any advice/warnings?

Hey, if we all chip in we can make this happen*. Let's do it! *For me.
-
Things are cool. Stuff, on the other hand, is a total dick.
-
Yeah, I was really hoping for a solo set too. Never seen one. Still, it's hard to complain with the excellent lineup they've announced so far. I will, however, be keeping my fingers crossed for a surprise. So excited for this.

Neko Case! Fantastic!!!

We got at least two feet here in S.E. Connecticut, but still have power. Going out to shovel again in a minute, then take my girls sledding for the first time.

What airline are you using? Cheapest tickets i could find from Providence were $300+, and that's a bit more than I'd like to spend (what with S.Sound coming up). I really want to go to the show on the 13th. It'd be my birthday present to myself. -
What are your perfect 10 out of 10 albums!

Off the top of my head: David Bowie - The Man Who Sold The World The Jayhawks - Hollywood Town Hall (tied with T.T.G.G.) Walt Mink - El Producto The Weakerthans - Reconstruction Site Wilco - Summerteeth (tied with The Whole Love) Nick Drake - Pink Moon The Beatles - Revolver (tied with Sgt. Pepper) Metallica - Master of Puppets The Wildhearts - Earth vs. The Wildhearts Bob Dylan - Blood On The Tracks These are albums that I can listen to without skipping a single track. I know there are many more. Edit. Also: The Sundays - Reading, Writing and Arithmetic Tom Petty - Damn the Torpedoes -
Great article! After seeing two shows, I was blown away at exactly how much of it was improvisation (very different each night) and how in sync they were. We all know Nels is amazing, and Julian more than kept up. Of the two performances, I think Hartford was the strongest. Nels also told me that, Julian's schedule permitting, they''re hoping to play at Solid Sound.

My wife and I saw them last night in New London, CT. They were incredible. Very intimate show, and we were front row. We got to chat with them about music for a long time afterwards, which was great. Nels said they'll definitely be doing an album together. They were both remarkably nice. We're seeing them again tonight in Hartford.

Nels Cline & Julian Lage in New London, CT.

I couldn't agree more.
-
A perfect example. Also, I found out about that show (Toad's Place?) a couple days too late, so thanks for bringing up a painful memory.
-
Hey, to each their own. You're missing out, though. I've been floored by many unknown opening bands over the years, and more than a few have gone on to be very well known. Some, unfortunately, remain quietly brilliant, but these are the ones I tend to love the most - because they persist despite the struggle. And believe me, it is a struggle.
-
Well if YOU'VE never heard of them they can't be any good anyway, right? I'm sure there's some wildly popular, completely shit act you could go see instead. What a sad lack of musical curiosity.
-
Holy crap, my tickets came in the mail today! That was fast. Strangely, having them in my hand makes June seem even more distant.
-
@Wilco Me: Thanks very much! Good to know. I'm not on Facebook, but my wife is. I'll check it out tonight. June can't come quickly enough.

Thanks for the info, SpiritDove. We'll have our car - I was just guessing that local parking might be limited and the shuttles would be running from some arranged parking lot outside of town. Happy to hear otherwise.
-
What's the parking like in N Adams? How/where do the shuttles run? Our hotel is in Pittsfield (approx. 30 minutes away) so if anyone who's done this before can offer any advice I'd greatly appreciate it.
-
That's the best suggestion yet.
-
I was able to book a room at the Crowne Plaza in Pittsfield (about a half hour from MassMOCA) for the weekend. I believe it's $129 per night. Special pricing for Solid Sound apparently, so mention it when you call. This will be our first time up there, so I can't give any more info than that. Best of luck to you.
