  1. they were selling tickets at the door. Crowded, not packed.
  2. I thought of you! And that Dave guy too.

  4. That's funny, some guy named Dave Maloney posted on their FB page entry for tonight's show: 'Man, would I love to hear The Have Nots tonight!"
  5. I should say, I don't mind spending $40 to see X. Looking forward to this show, love the Sinclair.
  6. Me too. I thought $40 was a cheap ticket.
  7. You are correct, they did "suspend" the liquor license for violations last year, but that suspension is under appeal and does not take effect if upheld until after the festival this year. Apparently, the cops were all over the place last year filming people getting high and drinking (shocking I know), which is what led to the suspension. I'm a little bummed about the police presence.
  8. Beer will be flowing this year. May be an issue for 2015, but not this year.
  9. No license issue for 2014. Here's word on the Billy K Allstars: http://liveforlivemusic.com/news/bill-kreutzmanns-locknstep-allstars-to-include-steve-kimock-oteil-burbridge-col-bruce-hampton-guests-taj-mahal-keller-williams-papa-mali-and-tom-hamilton/#.U_ZOvqPN4TB
  10. The Billy Allstars set was added after Weir cancelled (along with Lettuce!), but they've never officially announced who's playing in it. I'm not familiar with Umphrey's or SCI, though I know lots of folks who like them. Especially SCI. There's a lot else on that schedule that has me pumped.
  11. No announcement yet from Lockn', but Steve Kimock supposedly posted this on his website: Steve Kimock w/ Bill Kreutzmann and the Locknstep Allstars @ Lock'n Festival - Arrington, VA "Kimock plays lead guitar for Bill Kreutzmann and the Locknstep Allstars. Also featuring Oteil Burbridge, Aron Mangor with special guests Taj Mahal, Keller Williams, Papa Mali and Tom Hamilton."
  12. My 24 year old son and his friends have been reading Grantland since day 1, and Hyden in particular. I've now read a couple of his recent music pieces (including the 50 Years of American Music Champions or whatever that was called, I opened a topic on it) and agree, I will try not to miss anymore of his music writings.
  13. Pretty sure the late night sets on those stages are simultaneous. That's certainly the discussion on the Lockn' forums. I've been assuming i will have to make a decision between Hot Tuna and Bustle. Not a decision I want to have to make. Assuming I'm still awake!
  14. A topic about Lockn' should have an image of the 4 day lineup:
  15. Thanks for setting this up. I'm going with 2 friends, really looking forward to it. We decided to go as soon as it was announced as (we thought) our last chance to see the Allmans. (The Allmans then announced the rescheduling of the cancelled Beacon shows in October, so I'll get to see them one more time). And having Phil on the schedule made the decision to travel all the easier. After we bought our tickets, the lineup kept getting better and better. I pretty much fell off my chair at work when Wilco was announced, for 2 days no less. Never saw that coming. Then Furthur, Drive By Truck
  16. I've been wanting to get to the Cap for a Phil show since Peter Shapiro renovated and re-opened it. A Wilco show there may be the one that gets me on the road. Unless of course they add Boston to their schedule. Two festival sets at Lockn' won't be enough for me.
  17. Love the Sinclair. I'll next be there for X.
  18. posting at 5:21 a.m., I hope you get a nap before the show! OK, I give up, who is that?
  19. Agreed. To quote my good buddy: "I started at the bottom and started to work up. I got to Deerhunter and stopped (prime competition = Vampire Weekend). Really?" My mid-20's kid and friends would say Kanye ruled for those years, but he doesn't qualify as per the author's rules.
  20. Interesting piece published by Steven Hyden on Grantland. http://grantland.com/features/the-american-band-championship-belt/ The title says what it is, his opinion on the best American band year by year (or multiple years in many cases) for the last 50. I've only skimmed it so far, but a few lines caught my attention. "I tried to be as impartial as one can be when handing out a fictional prize on the basis of perceived artistic value. There are times when I chose groups that I personally don’t feel that strongly about, but whose résumés were indisputable. There were also times when pers
  21. I didn't realize it was Re-recordings. I assumed it was a compilation of tracks previously released. I love RT, I will get a disc of new recordings of his acoustic playing of those songs.
