  4. Yes yes yes! My first GD show. My holy grail. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. This place has been recommended to me: http://portchesterhall.com/ Also Mario Batali has a place there, Tarry Lodge.
  6. Here's the final installment of JamBase's 1974 retrospective, with links to the previous editions. Great stuff if you don't already have it. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/123074/Stormy-Mondays-Grateful-Dead-1974-Retrospective-Finale The "amazing passage" the writer refers to is on Disc 4 of the Grateful Dead Movie soundtrack. Amazing it is.
  7. I'm coming in from Boston for night 2 (Wednesday). Kicking myself that I'm only catching one show. Meeting NYC buddies there, I'll get you some food and drink place suggetions. Got back yesterday from NYC from the Allmans at the Beacon, ready to turn around and head to the Empire State again.
  8. Yes it is superb. Based on the audience energy during this song, I'm pretty certain that "sucks" is a minority view!
  9. Reading the track list and this discussion has me listening to each track in order while riding the Acela to NYC. No doubt to me that A.M. is essential Wilco listening and the A.M. songs represented on the compilation fit right in. It was the sound of that band that is so well captured, and the absolutely crazily good songwriting is evident from the get -go. I also don't disagree with any of the #20's mentioned. The sheer number of great songs is mind-blowing.
  10. The Allman Brothers Band. Last time for me. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk
  11. I agree. So my #20 for each disc would be Summer Teeth and Art of Almost.
  12. I'm getting on the Acela from Boston tomorrow for the show. Show rescheduled from March. Only catching this one show, this will be the last one for me. Thought Lockn' was going to be it when we bought our tickets, which was before they announced the Beacon shows. Been riding this train since soon after the Fillmore album came out, saw them for the first time in '73 at Nassau Coliseum, hoping I go out strong tomorrow!
  13. Don't know the specific date, but I think from last summer's AmericaneramA tour, maybe the Atlanta show? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Sucks? Thought that must have been a typo. Love the song. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Right, got it. We spent a bunch of time in the Loft installation, did a bunch of listening. Fantastic stuff in there. I'm a sucker for the gear, and the full wall photo at the end of the room.
  16. I'm not sure what you're referring to? I was at every SS, they did I Love My Label and some tunes from The Whole Love before it was released. Is that what you mean?
  17. Despite my contributions to this thread, I don't pay much attention to the HOF inductions. Reading this thread surprised me to realize Yes is not included. Seems improbable to me. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk
  18. Pretty damned impressive list of songs. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. We'll have to go best 2 out of 3 on something Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. But somehow Joan Jett gets on the list. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Consequence of Sound republished their 2013 list of the 20 Biggest HOF snubs. http://consequenceofsound.net/2014/10/the-20-worst-rock-and-roll-hall-of-fame-snubs/full-post/ To Tim's point, The Smiths come in at number 3. "Accolades: Without netting much in the way of Grammys or similar industry nods (sans a few NME awards), the band is often cited as a pioneer of the subsequent Britpop explosion, influencing bands like Oasis, the Stone Roses, and more. The BBC once called The Smiths “the band that inspired deeper devotion than any British group since The Beatles." To my point, Phish
  22. Grace has covered Wilco tunes? Which ones? Saw her at Lockn', that band did kick ass. Plus, I'm always a sucker for a pretty girl in a short dress playing a Flying V!
  23. My childhood roots were what would now be called "jamband" oriented, and I have returned to a lot of those roots, but I lived in Boston in the late '70's and '80's and spent all my musical energies on non jam band music interests. I was pretty familiar with The Smiths for a little while during their early Meat is Murder and next album period, but no doubt I lost touch and interest in them after that. Morrissey really annoys me, in the same way Bono annoys lots of folks. When I think about bands that created an unmatched visual and sonic aesthetic over a measurable period of time, I think of
