  1. I always park in the open air lot next ro Boston Beer Works any time I go to HOB. Easy in, easy out. I will be at the Orpheum tonight, have fun everybody.
  2. Lucinda tonight. Tough going back to back and having to work too!
  3. Whoa, what was going on in the orchestra? We were in second row of balcony and couldn't tell. Is Ryan always that way with his stage talk? First time seeing him. Some serious cursing at an audience member. The music was fantastic. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. He has a song called "Chrissie Hynde." Geez, he has to be great! https://www.youtube.com/user/butchwalker
  5. I was trying to figure out about the opener, Butch Walker. I don't know anything about him, but in a Rolling Stone piece just the other day: "as a solo artist regularly delivers one of the most thrilling live concert experiences,"
  6. Big expansion plans for MassMoCA, set to open in May 2017. Wonder what that means for any chance of a SS in '16? Which would be an "off" year anyway if they keep to an every other year rotation. Surprised no mention of SS in this article. http://www.bostonglobe.com/arts/2014/11/16/mass-moca-unveils-expansive-vision-for-future-including-artists-laurie-anderson-jenny-holzer-rauschenberg-bourgeois-james-turrell/oPu459PK72ZJUIYd15HmbL/story.html#comments
  7. After 2015, and during, I assume we're going to get a lot of Phil and Friends shows at the Cap and Terrapin
  8. Excellent write up in today's Boston Globe. This writer gets it. http://www.bostonglobe.com/arts/music/2014/11/15/two-retrospectives-look-wilco-long-journey-mainstream/YggSOjgzPrctCfJwr7lQ8K/story.html
  9. I thought about buying it for the same reason. Now I think about buying copies to give as gifts to my friends who have never been exposed to enough Wilco. But back to AMF, through disc 1 and definitely glad to have this beauty. Every thing about it, the music, the box and the writings in the book. Especially Jeff's liner notes. 10. Must be only the vinyl. No serial numbers on the cd box set. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. My memory is the $699 early bird VIP was only $100 more than a regular 4 day pass without camping. Believe me, best $699 I've spent. Can't compare the cost to SS, did you look at the number of bands and number of hours of music at Lockn'? It was unreal.
  12. Hey Bosco, which of the Roadcase releases do you think sound better? I don't ask as a challenge to your opinion, but because I want to make sure I have them. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I would not saying anything that could be construed as negative towards A.M., love it and am consistently happy with how well the songs hold up. But, if I had to pick one, Being There remains my favorite and the one I still listen to the most. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. It's comparing apples to oranges. Love them both. Solid Sound always ends up being my favorite weekend of the summer, and that includes my vacation weeks. But Lockn' was awesome. I had a different experience from Wilco Me (yes, I was in the hated VIP section, but at my age I couldn't do it any other way). I didn't find it too large or overcrowded, the vending was great (never waited on line for anything more than a minute or 2), the sound system was fantastic and the side by side stages were brilliant. The VIP areas did not occupy the entire front of the stages, it went from halfway of o
  15. What I took away from that is the distinct possibility of appearances at Lockn'. Which makes perfect sense. I love Phish, but fear having them on the bill would overrun the festival.
  16. "a "firing on all cylinders" musical happening that doesn't occur every night" That's pretty much how I felt about that entire show! I came out of there and told my friends i felt like the band played with such intensity the entire night, as if they were determined to make every song the "best ever" version. Over the weekend I will get myself properly adjusted and give Ashes a good listen.
  17. Talk of GD 50th interlocking with Phish at Lockn' 2015.
  18. Some musings on the GD 50th year, and Lockn, by Scott Allen, the guy who wrote Aces Back to Back (anyone read that book?). I loved Lockn this year, and I love Phish, but I'm not so sure I love Phish and all that entails at Lockn: Since we last discussed the topic of a Core Four reunion of the Dead, a lot of things have changed, and plenty of divergent but credible opinions have emerged about what may or may not unfold in 2015. As I have stated twice, it is a fact that concert promoters have been demanding exorbitant insurance policies for any show, tour, or series of dates involving a Core
  19. Some more, or less, Austin info for you: "Hey man. Sadly I don't have any intel on residency bands in Austin. I would recommend the Continental Club, Lucky Lounge and The Hole in the Wall as possibilities. All have local and touring acts. If your friend digs jazz, The Elelphant Room is also a good place to check out."
  20. I don't know if Stan did anything different, but these Port Chester Roadcase releases sound superb to my ears, as it did live. Combination of a great sound engineer and great house sound?
  21. I checked with a couple of Austin friends, heard back from one so far: Really depends on what kind of music he likes. If he likes guitar slingers, I recommend David Grissom free 6:00 Tuesday Happy Hour at the Saxon Pub. If not, just look at the Chronicle listings when he gets here.
  22. Hmmm, not only was I in the house, but I've listened to it several times. Not that I didn't love every second of it, but it hasn't struck me as having an outro jam that was unusual or more out there than other versions of Ashes. I will have to listen again. And I love the spring '77 reference, I know *exactly* what you refer to. Don't have a clue about the Floyd Live at Pompeii era though
  23. I wouldn't necessarily assume that Wilco will be back next year. Although they just did 3 nights at the Cap Theatre, another Peter Shapiro venue, so I figured it was bundled together, and Tweedy did say something at the last night of the Cap run about being back next year, so perhaps. One thing you can be sure of: Wilco will be playing Solid Sound!
