  1. The written announcement doesn't say that: http://wxrt.cbslocal.com/2015/01/16/fare-thee-well-the-grateful-dead-to-celebrate-50th-anniversary-at-soldier-field/
  2. One rumor that seems to make sense to me is that there will be a performance (or 2) at Lockn'. That's where I will likely catch them. People can speculate all day on who will be playing guitar and keys, but seems to be all speculation or "wish lists" at this point, with the exception that there seems to be a lot of momentum for Trey to be playing with them at Chicago shows. Maybe on a double bill with Phish? I agree, I don't see how the GD reunion show fills Soldier Field by itself.
  3. I posted this in another topic, but it should be here as well. A nice piece in the New Yorker. http://www.newyorker.com/culture/culture-desk/pops-staples-belated-finale
  4. I've seen MMJ once, would love to see them again. But NOT at SS, unless it's a 5:00 slot on Joe's Field before Wilco. Even still, I fear having MMJ on the bill would pose a substantial risk of turning this into a bigger deal and more crowded festival than any of the Wilco fans who attend would want. Perhaps I'm overreacting, but my gut tells me they're too "big" an act for what we love about SS. And any suggestion they would take one of the 2 headlining night slots would be a definite no-no.
  5. NIce piece in the New Yorker http://www.newyorker.com/culture/culture-desk/pops-staples-belated-finale
  6. It's never been about the big headliners on the Acura stage for me. Over the years I've often found myself at Gentilly or the Blues Tent or somewhere else for the day's closing sets. But the Acura headliners this year are weak for my tastes (I'll catch Widespread at Lockn'), and looking past that first layer of headliners there's just not that much depth. I haven't looked at the late nights yet, that's always a big part of our trip. I know if I went it would be hard to not have fun at JazzFest, it's always been an incredible time. It is tempting to go first weekend, looks like WIlco will
  7. Last year was the first year I didn't make it in 5 years, was planning to go this year, always go second weekend, but other than Wilco and TTB on the first Friday (who are likely to be playing at the same time from the way the lineup is listed), I'm underwhelmed by the lineup. Decisions decisions. http://www.nojazzfest.com/home/ http://lineup.nojazzfest.com/
  8. Never mind, just saw the other topic! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. That is so exciting! Two of the best songwriters ever. Should be awesome. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. That would be fantastic! Why do you think so? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Just noticed that in episode 10. Trying to figure out which wilco show that is. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. There's nothing I like about the Paradise. Going there for 35 years, still hate it each time. Was much better watching Soulive on my big screen in my warm room. They had multiple good camera angles.
  13. This show being streamed right now on Yahoo Live, just started. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Now that you're an award winning photographer, I think the value of your Wilco/Solid Sound photos hanging in my office just went up!
  15. He may not want to toot his own horn here, but I will for him. This shot by Mr. Tinnitus Photography was chosen as the top concert photo of the year in Boston by Bowery Boston Presents. Actually it was a 3-way tie, but that's still a winner. Check out Bowery Boston on Facebook. Congrats to Tim.
  16. One of my good buddies lives in NYC (now NYC and Austin), and sees more live music than any other person I know. I usually go down to NYC to catch a few shows with him each year, and we've been going to JazzFest together (I jumped on his trip, going on 17 years for him). He keeps a log every year, I looked at it over the weekend. Three pages, single spaced. Over 160 shows/dates listed. A very wide range of music. I don't know how he does it. A very understanding wife, to say the least.
  17. How was the show? I was planning to go, but then they were the surprise opener for Derek and Susan so I took a pass on this one. But I was wishing I was there.
  18. That link didn't work here in the U.S., but I found this on You Tube. Can't wait to get home and sit down and watch this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDVIM2iBqdc
  19. The second set of this PhilRAD show happening right now is pretty damn good. Really looking forward to seeing JRAD in Boston in 2015 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
