  1. Ha! I'm one of the ding dongs! Although I didn't post any link to a YouTube video (so does that make me only a "ding"?). Where is that video? I guess I'll have to find it myself! The message to you is: just surrender to the music!
  2. Lucinda Williams: Car Wheels Drunken Angel Joy Essence Copenhagen
  3. I inferred from the announcement that they went with theaters and no web at home streaming. Wouldn't make sense to me to do both. As a customer, if they offer a live web stream at home, no way i'm going to go sit in a theater.
  4. Allman Brothers Band Midnight Rider Whipping Post 'Liz Reed Black Hearted Woman Blue Sky
  5. I will be out of the country Monday, damn.
  6. Today's announcement says "enter to win". I can't figure out how to do that, other than to sign up for the newsletter. Is that the "entry"?
  7. R.E.M. (can I answer with the first 5 albums?) Radio Free Europe Begin the Begin World Leader Pretend Man on the Moon Exhuming McCarthy

  11. Grateful Dead (I need way more than 5 for this) Eyes of the World Jack Straw Sugar Mag Playin Uncle John's Band
  12. The Jam (glad to be reminded I don't listen to enough Jam these days): Going Underground That's Entertainment Town Called Malice Eaton Rifles In the City I'll have to do a Drive By Trucker's list, which will definitely include Carl Perkins' Cadillac. So far omitted from all DBT lists.
  13. I'll add to my list: Country Disappeared Summer Teeth (because it's my #1 favorite Wilco song and I don't know of anyone else who would say that)
  14. Listening to this right now. Love the intro by the guy who had never heard them as of 2 nights earlier but now knows they are "the best fucking rock n roll band in the whole world" Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. That's what I've been thinking ever since rumors of these shows started circulating. If I lived in the Bay Area and shelled out all that $$ for airfare, hotel, etc. to go to Chicago for what were clearly billed as the last and only shows, I'd be freaking pissed. And I share your East Coast blues. They should have planned this out to do west coast, Chicago and east coast venues from the beginning.
  16. #tbt (now Friday) to the days Bob Bralove would get me backstage passes and great seats ‪#‎gratefuldead‬ ‪#‎stealyourface‬
  17. well that makes a lot more sense He was great in Treme (a favorite show of mine). I forgot he was on The Wire (another favorite), what season? Seen him a few times, but not in a long while.
  18. I caught the next night at the Orpheum (where they announced the first Solid Sound), one of my top 5 shows of all time.
  19. I think this is a new add, Friday July 10, Des Moines, headlining a festival
  20. The WilcoWorld shows page only goes up to August 16, so my fingers are still crossed for another Lockn' appearance (or 2)
  21. at 2nd SSF? I was there but didn't catch the sound check, but I was in line outside MassMoca the year they did the benefit show and was able to hear the soundcheck and am almost certain they soundchecked Say You Miss Me then too. I could be completely wrong about that, but that's my best memory.
  22. I saw them for the first time around the same time, maybe a year or so later (must have been right when Murmur was released), in a gym at Harvard, with Husker Du opening. I don't know if it was $5, but it wasn't much more. They were my wife's and my favorite band for many years. I still listen to R.E.M. more than every once in a while, and every time I do just freaks me out how great they were and how much I love their music. Same with my wife.
