  1. Foo Fighters announces as the final musical guest for tonight. Underwhelming choice to me, I can't stand them.
  2. After watching Letterman religiously for many years, many years ago, I hadn't watched much for a long time. I've been recording Jon Stewart (and Chelsea Lately before that ended) every night, so not enough time in the day to also watch Dave. But over the last month I've been recording Letterman every night and really enjoying every minute of each of the shows. I'm still behind, but will end up watching them all. i don't disagree with the comment that the writing has declined, but the video clips they've been showing have been great, as have the A+ guest list of people who have showed up the
  3. "Jeff Tweedy has grown into one of the great rock songwriters of all time. I’d put him right up there in the hallowed “second tier” alongside guys like Pete Townshend and Ray Davies." Wrong, I'd put him right up there in the hallowed first tier, alongside guys like Bob Dylan and Neil Young. "But Wilco is a musical collective, and Tweedy has surrounded himself with some of the best rock musicians playing today, in particular drummer Glenn Kotche and lead guitarist Nels Cline. In my eyes there’s nobody better today than these two." Don't know I can say that about Nels since there's such
  4. I agree, Collapse Into Now is an excellent and sorely underrated album. After a few not so good ones. And I also miss that band very much.
  5. For your streaming pleasure, DBT from Mountain Stage: http://www.npr.org/2015/05/18/407751999/drive-by-truckers-on-mountain-stage
  6. Been spending some time over the last couple of days with my favorite May '77 show, Buffalo on May 9. Heck, one of my favorite shows from any era. Have listened to it innumerable times over the years. If anyone hasn't, I suggest you do. Especially the matrix that is in circulation. I'd be happy to set up a Dropbox link if anyone wants it.
  7. Wish I had gotten this release, if for no other reason than starting in '73, the Academy of Music was our home away from home, growing up in Nassau County. Didn't catch any of the '72 Dead shows there, but so many amazing nights were spent in that theater.
  8. Dare I ask, a metal festival? I'm pretty sure you weren't at Hangout.
  9. Courtney Barnett (apropos of tonight's show at The Sinclair): Avant Gardner Elevator Operator Depreston History Eraser Dead Fox
  10. It's my favorite tour (I'm not alone I know), but I'm no expert on each individual show, but if 4/26 is the Hundred Year Hall show, I can give that a huge thumb's up. I ended up buying the full show when it became available.
  11. Just to be clear, only because they are no longer available for purchase.
  12. I'm happy to Dropbox these to anyone who wants them Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I like this list. My original response likely failed to note the continual presence of the Dead from '73 to the present with the exception of '81 until September of '87 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  15. More "Dear Jerry" moments for me tonight. This is an excellent 15 minute compilation: http://youtu.be/VpgH31c8t3g Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Is tonight the Dear Jerry show? Either way, I'm having my own "Dear Jerry" tribute- spinning my MOFI vinyl Live/Dead. I couldn't begin to know how many times I've listened to this over the years, but still flips me out each time I get to it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  21. I agree with Choo Choo, getting the 6 Winterlude shows will give a perfect picture of the band hitting on all cylinders over the expanse of the entire songbook. If you want less of a financial investment, get the 3 shows from the October run at the Cap Theater in Portchester. Otherwise, check out the After the Show topics for the Roadcase shows and you may get some good ideas of what to get (although you may end up getting everyone of them if you do that!).
  22. Inspired me to listen to a couple sides of the vinyl. Sounds freakin great. Love this album.
