Anyone go to the Movie last night? I wanted to but couldn't make it.
-
Individual band members have done special exhibitions in the museum: Nels did a guitar stomp box effects installation and demo, Pat did a drum/percussion installation and demo. Tweedy did the dunk tank and falconry. Very approachable and up close interactions. I've seen Pat walking around the gift shop in the lobby. I've never stopped any of them for a photo or autograph.

In the running for one of my favorite albums of all time. A few years ago Whitlock was posting a bunch of long writings about his career and experiences with Clapton and the Dominoes. Fascinating reads. I think he put out a book a few years ago, I never got it but was wondering if it included what he was posting. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I had a hard time keeping Jessica and Mt. Jam off my list. Also Ain't Wasting Time. I didn't consider Statesboro because I think of it as a cover, even though it is indelibly associated with the Allmans. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
To be clear, its not that I go around listening to JM, but when I do it's the live Trio stuff. Which, judging from the number of references to You Body is a Wonderwall here I suspect many folks have not checked out. I think he's a great blues guitar player. You don't, I get it. I don't think Auerbach is a great blues guitar player, you apparently do. And why bring Nels up if the conversation is about blues players. I've heard JM improvise and jam, he can do it and do it well. I've seen Phil with all sorts of different players, this would just be another one (unfortunately it likely won'

Has anyone here heard any John Mayer Trio? The guy is a phenomenal blues guitar player, one of the best. And he made it well known a few years ago that he hunkered down in Montana for over a year and listened mostly to Grateful Dead music. Saw him at Crossroads '13. Put aside all the Hollywood stuff, the guy can play and seems like his head's been in a good place for several years. I look forward to seeing him play GD music with any combination of Weir et al. That's in the May '77 box, right? Love that show. Anytime I think of the Dead in St. Paul, I always think of the 2-17-'73 show with maybe the best transition jam I've ever heard them do-Here Comes Sunshine>China Cat. Dave's Pick, Academy of Music 3-26-72 I just got the email announcing this, but I feel like this was already announced and discussed. http://www.dead.net/store/1970s/daves-picks-volume-14?eml=dn/041715/main-image

I loved that documentary. Also surprised to see Donna, had no idea she was in it. I knew she sang with Elvis, but had no idea of the Muscle Shoals connection.
