  1. Today's addition to the lineup is Umphreys. Never seen them, never heard their music.
  2. One of my favorite albums of all time. The show was great too. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk
  3. Add acoustic Hit Tuna to Lockn'! Woohoo! Jack and Jorma, love it. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks for the heads up Lammy. I'm not a big fan of the early '80's, but I know a lot of people are. I'm downloading and will set up and put it in my Dropbox, you can grab it from there if you (or anyone else) wants to get it. Just need to PM me your email address.
  5. Dylan? I don't hear that at all. I'm more reminded of New Order/LCD Soundsystem. Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk
  6. And the camera around your neck, no? I'm the slightly more than middle-aged tallish balding guy, likely wearing a black "W" Wilco cap. I don't hear any resemblance to Springsteen, Huey Lewis or Hornsby. They remind me of somebody, I just can't put my finger on who.
  7. I bought the most recent album a few weeks ago and have been listening non-stop. Seeing them next Thursday at the Paradise in Boston, really looking forward to this show. From reading the cd booklet I get the impression this band is really all about the one main guy. Sort of like Bon Iver. Is that right?
  8. We live in a Wilco bubble. Amazing to me to read how many negative comments about Wilco have been posted on Lockn's FB page after this announcement.
  9. Broken up? You must not have heard about the Lockn' announcement!
  10. I seriously doubt they are headlining, against Phil and Friends and Widespread (both of whom are playing 2x) and the Allmans. I assume they will be a lead-in time slot, and a festival length set of 90 minutes maybe? Just my assumptions. But I'd really fall over if they were headlining. No way.
  11. Supposedly a real s*%$-show last year. First year of the festival. They've promised to improve things this year. Given that this is a Peter Shapiro production, I have a high degree of confidence they will.
  12. I watched this morning. First time I watched that show, I now have it on the DVD lineup.
  13. Me too, several years ago at the Orpheum in Boston. But I will be seeing them again at Lockn'. I've heard this last tour with a new configuration has been very good. I'll see.
  14. I knew you were referring to Lockn', I knew you are going. Maybe she should spend some time listening to some Phil shows first, and see if the music moves her sans Jerry? To go back yo your original proposition, I agree it would be different, I don't predict that Wilco's music will survive in the same way without Tweedy. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. That's a substantial question, it's late at night so I can only be brief now. Yes, there are some who feel the way your friend does, but many fans of the band and Jerry, myself included, are fans of Grateful Dead music, the songs. That music has lived on in various incarnations, even without Jerry. And not a day goes by that we don't think of and miss Jerry. For me, Phil has really carried the torch of Grateful Dead music, and the Grateful Dead itself, in his various Phil and friends incarnations. Furthur too, although that band is now on hiatus. And I dare any fan of the music to listen
  16. I checked the book in the May '77 box, this St. Louis show was the first time Estimated and Eyes were joined, the first of many. And not only was Passenger a first time played, it was previously unheard by everyone in the Arena as had not yet been released.
  17. I know, those shows have been spectacularly special each year. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. That is a Sophie's Choice question, but #1 for me. If you told me I couldn't hear Jack Straw, Mt. Jam, Summerteeth or any one of a million other songs ever again, I don't think I could keep on going. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. So is Tweedy doing a show at Newport or is he playing with Mavis? I would assume he's doing his solo set, but the wording here says he will play "alongside" Mavis to help celebrate her birthday. http://www.jambase.com/Articles/121260/Jeff-Tweedy-Added-to-Newport-Folk-Festival-Lineup Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk
  20. Was a fun show, long time ago, I don't remember much, but I can picture where i was sitting on the floor, I remember being totally psyched to catch St. Stephen, and I remember the Iko coming completely out of left field after they started what certainly seemed like NFA. Can't say I was familiar with Iko at the time, but it had that funky groove that was an instant hit with the fans.
