  1. I'm in Rocky River outside of Cleveland - got my deluxe cd yesterday with the t-shirt...very nice...!
  2. Totally agree...the 'similarity' is so superficial that I'm not even sure it was worth bringing up...
  3. I love this song and the video...both pure awesomeness. It was very cool hearing this song in it's embryonic state last spring when Jeff started rolling it out acoustically at solo shows and some tv appearances...I liked the song quite a bit at the time. At Solid Sound, I got to hear the live version and it was incredible (particularly all the stage lights flashing when Nels wailed on the signature lick)...then, last weekend, they streamed the album, so we finally got to hear the studio version which turns out to be beautifully nuanced, with so many cool touches (e.g., John's bass) which was
  4. One Sunday Morning is already a Wilco classic, easily on a par with IATTBYH and Misunderstood - and the album isn't even officially released yet. It's truly one of the most beautiful things they've ever done.
  5. I couldn't agree more. On an album of breathtaking elegance, One Sunday Morning already stands out as a Wilco classic.
  6. On my 4th listen...this is the sound of musicians in complete command of their art. Beautiful, lush and forward.
  7. Ranking anyone in Wilco (outside of Jeff ) seems shortsighted. While it’s distinctly Jeff’s band, it takes on the colors of its co-creators (you’ll note, I didn’t say ‘side-men’) in subtle ways - ways that far too many bands either cover up or refuse to acknowledge. I can’t really hear Jay on Sky Blue Sky, anymore than I can hear Nels on Being There…there’s something about the inherently idiosyncratic sound of each Wilco album, that seems to define the ‘DNA’ of each ‘iteration’ of Wilco. In other words, Tweedy is really a damn good judge of talent and brings out the best in his partners, al
  8. My favorite of the new songs Born Alone (?) - sounded awesome Friday night...I Might has that 60's Emenee organ thing and the distortion on the bass is very cool...kinda retro/Kingsmen/garage stuff...very cool...is the album still intended to be a double? I prefer the name Get Well Soon, Everybody but I'm hearing The Whole Love...
  9. I'm definitely in...so how do we spot fellow via chicagoers?
  10. I've seen many posts raving about the quality of the crowds...can't wait to get there! leaving thurs. 6am!
  11. backatcha L-cat - just joined the f-book SSF page... er...Kidsmoke...I never get the screen name thing right...LOL
  12. Thanks all for the great info...SO looking forward to this...any Via Chicagoer gatherings/meet n greets at the festival?
  13. Awesome! Thx for responding so quick...yeah, not that I'm looking for a fully equipped bar or anything, but was just wondering if there were beer sales... the bracelets thing makes sense and I'm thinking we'll probably set up our littl spot early and not leave valuables...if it's a Wilco concert, I'm going to assume(hope) everyone is somewhat respectful and not the typical concert crowd... Hoping to at least run into some of them - that would be awfully cool... Between the upcoming album and this, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas! LOL
  14. Hey all - not sure where to post this, so I figured I'd start here. Heading to Solid Sound and kinda curious as to logistics etc...so I'm just gonna post a bunch of questions and would greatly appreciate any of my VC bretheren's (who ere at last year's event) responses! THX! Expected crowd size? Just curious... Can you come and go from the museum grounds, or is it best to get your spot for seating early? If you do have a said spot 'staked out' can you leave non-essential stuff and not worry about losing your spot? Do they sell refreshments (as in anything like beer etc) - I would assu
  15. I'm diving in this thread, because every so often I just gotta blather how amazing this man is. I'm a HUGE Beatle freak and Jeff/Wilco is the ONLY band I would ever whisper in the same breath as tat band. Creatively, Tweedy (and certainly his partnership with Jay is very much in Lennon/McCartney's league...the most significant creative presence in American music over the last 40 years. In any event, I've been obsessing over A.M. lately - what an amazingly underrated album. WOW.
  16. Phenomenal...my first Wilco show, btw...I was absolutely blown away and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen - from any band...I particularly liked Impossible Germany, Forget The Flowers, Side with The Seeds and IATTBYH...their range is simply astonishing...
