He's got himself a pretty badass backing band, though. I saw him last winter for the first time in probably a decade and I had a blast.

Yeah, my first impression was that it looks kind of like Shea, but I figured maybe its just not the most flattering angle. RFK never really felt like a baseball park, IMO, so its an improvement. -

I just read something that said that Dan Snyder wants to tear down RFK and build a dome on the site for the Redskins, once the Nationals and United are out. Thank you, Mr. Snyder, for pissing all over my childhood. I realize that RFK is pretty old and probably needs replacing, but a freaking dome doesn't sound any better than that soulless heap of concrete out in Maryland. And isn't that stadium only a decade old anyway? Oh well, this isn't about that. I'm glad to see the Nats get a nice new home. -

Not bad. What's going to happen to RFK? Are they still playing soccer there? -
Eh, I'm an OSU fan and its still funny. If you can't poke fun at your own team from time to time, what fun is it? I met a fair amount of football players while I was in school at OSU. For the most part, it was about what you'd expect--ranging from some pretty bright guys to some maybe not so bright ones. But that guy just seemed to bring the curve waaaay down.

Thank goodness we have another list of naughty athletes to look forward to! Yay, sports corruption!

Up until 1997, the chant around the stadium used to be "S-O-Y-B-E-A-N-S", but was shortened to "O-H-I-O" because it was confusing Andy Katzenmoyer. True story. I just read it on Wikipedia.

I won't argue with you that it would be beneficial to the Big Ten in general to update their style of play, but I think you're overstating the case a bit. I'm not sure where the OSU-rage comes from, but of the 3 games you mentioned, Florida is the only team that schooled them in any meaningful sort of way.(Illinois they sleepwalked through and that Texas game a few years back--well, VY beat them on a nifty late-game TD drive after being effectively contained for 90% of the game. Shit happens.) Admittedly, I still have no good answer for what the hell happened in that Florida game, but if yo

Well, technically, there's no reason this has to be the case...but, yeah, there's a lot of evidence to support the idea that this is the way it works. I tend to think Michigan's D will remain pretty tough. I dunno, I also have a hard time imagining UM undergoing a complete transformation. I'm sure that elements of the spread will become the dominant feature over time, but certainly this current team is built for a more traditional offense, so I don't think it will be a night and day switch. I honestly think they will retain some of the power-offense characteristics, too. Honestly, I have

I don't think it will completely die out, but yeah, the Big Ten will be a different-looking place if UM starts running something closer to a WV offense. Those three yards and a cloud of dust matchups are great, but its also hard to deny that this conference needs some new blood. Purdue's "basketball on grass" mildly shook things up for a few years, but its gonna take a shift from one of the major conference powers to really trigger any sort of widespread change in the way the Big Ten plays. UM could definitely do that, so it will be interesting to see if this has a ripple effect if UM is su

Several years ago I was working a crappy temp job (albeit a decent-paying one), and at the Xmas party we did one of these gift-swap things. The owner of the company had ended up with a rubik's cube--a decent gift, as these things go--and he seemed quite happy with it and was playing with it at his table. When it got to my turn, I got some really crappy gift, but I also had the option to swap gifts with anybody else who'd already had a turn. So I took the rubik's cube. A couple weeks later I was informed that I was "not working out" at my temp position and was asked to leave. (coincidence

Awesome. Kids are brilliant, they really are.

I need to get back to doing this. I had one of these going for a while but kind of lost track of it.
-
Nice! From time to time I catch my kids in the right mood and they have had similar, extremely cute/awesome reactions. Like my oldest daughter, back when she was barely old enough to talk, used to try like hell to sing along with Neko Case's "Set Out Running". More recently, I had my iPod on shuffle and Beck's "Where Its At" came on and I looked in the mirror and saw her trying to do The Robot in her carseat. She routinely asks for this in the car now. My middle daughter (2 1/2) seems to have a surprising affinity for John Coltrane and Otis Redding. And my youngest, of all things, a

For some reason, Those Fucking Unicorns cracks me up. I'm also not ashamed to admit that these aren't too bad, either, in a terrible sort of way: Butt Stomach Statutory Grape Hubble Funk-o-Scope No, wait, that last one is pretty bad.

If UM is on his list specifically because he prefers the wide open style of Rodriguez's offense, I don't see how OSU fits into his plans at all. Just my opinion. I'm not holding my breath for this guy in Columbus.
-
Will be interesting to see the reaction to this. For all the nasty jabs at Petrino in the media, there were an equal number of misty-eyed, sentimental writeups of Rodriguez turning down Alabama last year and swearing he was determined to take West Virginia to a championship.
-
Yeah, I'm pretty indifferent about most of the guys named. Definitely disappointed to see some of those names on the list, but there's nothing here that turns my world upside-down and shatters all my illusions about the game (not that I have many, I guess).

Pfft. Pure speculation--no more substantial than all of those reports of Les Miles' "imminent" departure for Michigan. Probably they are using this guy as a smokescreen while they conduct negotiations with me behind the scenes. Just you watch, I guarantee this guy will suddenly refuse the job citing "family issues" and BAM--that job is mine!!!!

Anyone feel like applying to be Duke's head football coach? This is too awesome--I'm definitely sending in a resume. Why not? I think I'm a perfect fit for Duke. Even if I fail miserably at my job, will they be able to tell a difference? I shouldn't have told you guys about this--I'm just increasing the competition for the job!!
-
Nice! * Note: this is not a dig specifically at Arkansas. I can recall more than a few suspiciously awesome vehicles belonging to players parked outside the dorms at OSU when I was there, so I'm an equal-opportunity joker.

Indeed. Clearly, the people who left a paper trail never expected that it would ever really be pursued. Almost certainly, there are plenty of others who were more cautious about it.
