  1. Fine. Whatever. Just don't bring back Biakabutuka and I'm fine with whatever you guys do.
  2. I didn't realize he was as hot a commodity these days since Iowa has had a couple off years now.
  3. Now that I've spent enough time to tweak some of the settings, Vista is getting more tolerable. But the out of the box settings my laptop came with were completely unacceptable. Basically, the rule of thumb with my laptop is--don't let it go to sleep. If you do, it takes 15 minutes to "wake up". WTF is that?? When I first got my computer, it was maddening that whenever I closed the lid or (god forbid) walked away for more than 5 minutes, my computer bunkers itself down into deep-freeze mode. When this happens, I just hold down the power button to kill it and boot from scratch because it
  4. If it makes your decision any easier, I just got a new Dell laptop with Vista on it--and I have never hated a computer quite the way I hate this thing. Unreal. I am hardly a Mac fanboy, but right now I'd say get the Mac. Or get the Dell and install Linux instead of Vista. Your call.
  5. I have "The Fog" on DVD. Should I just stay home and watch that? Or should I hold out for "The Haze"?
  6. Clearly, you have been following more closely than you admit.
  7. Yeah, you caught us in a crappy year between series with Texas (last 2 years) and USC (next 2 years). There were many OSU fans who noted at the start of the season that if you take the first letter of their opening 4 opponents it spelled Y-A-W-N. I agree that the "in-state-rivalry" games are just dumb since there isn't another team in OH that can consistently compete. And this is the first year I can remember a D-II team on schedule, but its not exactly unheard of around the NCAA. Big deal. Really, the thing that made this year's schedule so dull has less to do with those MAC teams and mo
  8. That is hypnotic. ...and its one of those things, while I don't exactly remember seeing that onet as a kid, I must have because somehow it feels ingrained in my bones. I am going to go around for the rest of the day singing MA NAH MA NA!!!
  9. Sounds like a neat gadget, but I don't see myself running out to get one.
  10. This thread suddenly reminded me of Daddy-O's--quite literally a poor man's Rally's. I discovered this place in college, a bit off campus, but it was a drive-thru-only and had very similar food to Rally's but was a dollar or two cheaper for most items. (and probably lower on the Health Department's ratings, but hey, so what? it was cheap!) Overall, I'd go with Wendy's, tho.
  11. Tell her to give Dantonio a chance. I think he will do well for them.
  12. I had no idea that spot was so famous. My wife grew up near there and every time we are driving through I always make some comment about the wall-to-wall garbage food.
  13. Has Saban's name been mentioned for the Michigan job yet? He's about due for a change, isn't he?
  14. I'm not in the top 5000, nor would I guess I'm in the top 500,000. I think, whoever came up with the spelling of my name when they tried to "Americanize" it, the idea was to come up with a phonetic approximation of what the Czech name sounds like. On paper, though, it just looks like gibberish to most people.
  15. True. Although I can think of a couple years he should have...which was kind of his whole problem, I guess. I wasn't really comparing the two other than to say that I think the media attention on Lloyd has been a bit heavy on his recent record vs OSU. That's fair, but it also ignores some of the success he had...particularly earlier in his career at UM. You guys up north haven't really suffered, though, unless your current drought runs another half-decade or so. We're still pissed off about the '90s around here. I know it is kind of early to start looking ahead to next year, but I agree
  16. Lloyd is a good guy. I think it was his time to go, but it is unfortunate that his recent futility against tOSU will be a large part of his legacy. Such are the perils of coaching a team that is part of a huge rivalry--those games get magnified. Cooper had a pretty good run, too, by all respects, but thanks to those UM games you still can't find too many people around Columbus who can say his name without their face twisting into either a laugh or a sneer. Such is life. Good luck in finding a new coach.(and QB, RB, etc) We'll be sure to bring out the "welcome wagon" next year in Columbus
  17. I'm as curious as anybody who the next UM coach will be. I'm not sure I buy the Les Miles thing yet. He's obviously in a pretty nice position where he's at right now. But if UM is his dream job, well, its not the kind of job offer that comes around too often so who knows if he would get another shot a few years down the line? I really haven't heard too many other names thrown around. Then again, Carr's retirement isn't even official yet, so I guess it is early. The game itself--well, the 14-3 score was pretty old-school. This was kind of a first for me--I'm frequently a critic of Tress
  18. I'm curious to see if Tressel has begun a new Big Ten trend in hiring coaches with distinguishing wardrobe quirks. Perhaps Michigan's next coach could be "the man in the corduroy pants" or, better yet, "the man in the yellow hat".
  19. My wife's family has a longstanding Thanksgiving tradition of gathering at a German restaurant in Michigan for fried chicken, sauerkraut, and beer. Perhaps a bit unconventional, but I've been doing it long enough now that I am convinced that this is really the way to go. Last year at Christmas we made a turducken--it was okay, but didn't live up to our lofty expactations.
  20. I just wanted to get a few last shots in there before I signed off for the day. Good luck to you guys tomorrow (no, really). Should be another good one. One last picture. Just because this one made me laugh:
  21. We're a month into the season and the mighty mighty BJ's are still threatening to contend for the playoffs. I expect the rest of Columbus will start hopping on the bandwagon once football season is over and word begins to spread that, hey, you know that team that plays that sport with the ice and the sticks in that big building downtown next to all the bars--they're actually winning once in a while this year! Woo!
