Way to blow it, VT. (and congrats to BC--those last 5 min will look nice on Ryan's personal highlight reel)

I buy the cheapest possible pack of disposable razors and try really hard not to shave more than once or twice a week. I'll admit, the "traditional shave" always did look kind of badass, but I doubt I have the patience...or steady enough hands not to slice a major artery.

Baltimore Orioles (2007) $ 93,554,808 Sometimes you can't even buy mediocrity.

I, for one, welcome our new Bostonian overlords... Jeez, these guys look like monsters right now. Rockies, your best hope is that they get lulled to sleep for a while like they did against Cleveland.

I think I've used this one before, but I still like it.

I have given up talking about Wilco. I mean, you guys here are ok (mostly ), but I figure if I can't even convert my wife to teh Wilco, what chance do I have with random strangers? Back in the days when I used to make mix tapes/cds, I'd throw some Wilco tracks on there and see what kind of feedback I get. But that's about as far as my Wilco-pimping ever went.

Hmm. Perhaps this explains the wicked cold/virus/bird-flu/mad-cow/ebola type illness that had been circulating around my family (coincidentally) since I attended a Wilco show last week in Columbus. Huh...I never suspected Wilco as the germ-source! In all seriousness, I hope everybody is ok and gets better quickly. Sorry to you guys who had tickets to these shows....hopefully there will be makeup dates shortly.

Probably an Ohio thing. I've gone numb to it, but it used to drive me crazy. -

Aw, I use that one all the time (intentionally) with my kids. Most of my current word-butcherings are kid-related. They have a far more interesting approach to language than adults do. One thing that completely baffled me when I went to college in the midwest after growing up on the east coast--people who say things like: "My car needs fixed." What?? I think you forgot a couple words in there, pal. -
read books?

Doesn't bother me a bit. Hmm. Does he play for Baltimore now? How cute, I didn't know they still had a team!
-
Not so fast. The series hasn't started yet....I might change my mind!

Since my latest bandwagon team has now been vanquished, my allegiance has shifted to Boston for the WS. For that reason, despite being the stronger team, I think they will lose a heartbreaker. Nothing curses a team quite like me rooting for it does. Sorry, Red Sox Nation, you have been warned.
-
I am a little disturbed that this poll did not keep a paper record of my vote.
-
I guess when you have two teams going head to head who's fanbases are equally used to heartache over the years, the curses kind of cancel each other out.

Yeah, I don't think I'd want to be laying out the sports section in the Plain Dealer. It really does take a special kind of person to be a sports fan in Cleveland. I'm not even really a Tribe fan--only hitched my wagon to them a couple weeks ago--but that flameout over the last 3 games was just painful to watch. For all the good times and optimism when they went up 3-1, as soon as they were unable to put away game 5 you just knew the ending was inevitable.

Well, if the masses were already suspicious of tOSU's credentials thus far, I guess a 7 pt victory over Sparty probably isn't going to win much praise. Oh well. Could have been worse. I was a senior in 98 when Sparty ruined an otherwise perfect season. Many a couch were burned that night in Columbus. Today was pretty ho-hum, in comparison. Business as usual for the Tressel era--get a comfortable lead and then let the other team make it interesting in the 4th quarter. Far be it for me to criticize the Sweatervest's success, but I'm constanly amazed this lack of killer instinct doesn't bl

More like: Except drop the "or" and replace it with "a" and say it like you're from the Bronx. -
Uhhhhh... *vibes* What? You thought that seemed half-hearted?? I don't know what you're talking about.

Those truckers have been cooking up bathtub gin in the left lane for years! -
I just moved to Ohio within the last year and so have sort of hopped on the Tribe bandwagon for the hell of it this postseason. After the Indians went up 3-1 in the series, I was amazed how people here treated it as a foregone conclusion that the series was over. Look, I realize I'm not really a native of this fair state, but even I am pretty familiar with Cleveland sports history. This thing ain't over.

Yeah, I caught that part. I just mean that the banter went back and forth a bit and I heard the guy yelling something but couldn't hear what he was saying. Jeff didn't seem too freaked out, so I figured it was cool...
