  1. I'm still kicking it old-school on Geocities. Why hasn't anybody signed my guestbook since 1996??
  2. I know this is hard to believe, but I don't agree with everything in that list.
  3. I don't think we'll see that sort of matchup--somehow I'm sure we'll have at least one "traditional" power team in the championship game. Even if the rankings continue to shuffle themselves as they have all season, I have a feeling the BCS would freak out about a Mizzou/WVU matchup and would find a way to magically correct the situation for the sake of ratings. Honestly, at this point, my greatest wish is to see LSU get dropped in the title game by Kansas or Mizzou or WVU. I have nothing against LSU, really, I'm just tired of reading articles about how the SEC is so wonderful that a 6-loss
  4. Yes, there's the Sesame Street version, and then on the Disc 1 version when it gets to the chorus my wife swears she always gets the urge to yell "Cleveland Rocks! Cleveland Rocks!" I dunno why that is, but I love her anyway.
  5. We might have to play the game on the Upper Peninsula to get that kind of weather these days, what with global warming and all. I say lets do it! Edit: By the way, rumor has it that even after UM loses this game, Division II would be more than happy to give them a spot in their playoff bracket.
  6. I haven't seen the movie since I'm too cheap to pay for HBO. I guess it sounds kind of interesting, but if the primary audience for this is OSU/UM fans, do we really need another documentary?? When I was at OSU, the display window out front of Long's Bookstore was always well stocked with more books, videos, and all sorts of memorabilia about this rivalry than you could ever want. Still, I guess there's an endless market for this stuff around this time each year. In related news, the weather here in Columbus went from being 65 and pleasant yesterday to 30-something with snow flurries this
  7. Yeah, its funny. The Dave/Tim shows surprise me how much I enjoy them (relative to the full-band stuff anymore), because it kind of runs against my typical logic--that the band is talented, but I just figured that Dave himself just got stagnant over the years. Which might be true also, since I really don't connect with much of the latter-day output, but Dave does still sound good in a stripped-down setting, which kind of throws a snag in the theory the he was the problem. (at least not the sole problem) Maybe it just helps to hear the songs in a different context. Kind of like how Tweedy'
  8. This one isn't bad. I can't remember what those other songs sound like. I only made it that far into the album a couple times.
  9. Yeah. And there was nothing good about Everyday.
  10. I thought Lillywhite/Busted Stuff was a considerable step up from the albums that preceded/followed it. That one and Under the Table are the only ones I still listen to. You're right about turning into Sting, tho.
  11. Who would have guessed that the world's most blandly mild-mannered coach could somehow become He-who's-name-shall-not-be-uttered?
  12. If there were a way to get cable channels a la carte, that would be awesome. I don't think that any channel has been watched at my house in ages other than Boomerang, Nick, and Disney.
  13. You have to admit that it's got a good beat. And you can dance to it.
  14. This week will be a good test of character for OSU. My hope is they come out focused and po'd about letting a golden opportunity slip away, and they tear Michigan a new a-hole the way they are capable of doing. If they win and complete the 4-year sweep of the UM seniors, I will praise the almighty Sweatervest. If they come out groggy and apathetic and lose, it will go a long way toward confirming my suspicions that (despite his record against UM to this point), Tress might not be all that much better at avoiding late-season complacency than Coop was.
  15. We are not exactly brimming with confidence down here anymore, either.
  16. Ok, I'll admit it--in some ways I'm almost a little relieved that OSU lost. Not that I'm happy about it, but maybe its time to let some of the angst go. Its been a good season, but so far it hasn't really been a fun season. I've had the sense all year that this OSU season was mostly about trying to redeem the dismal end to last year. They were a much better team last year than they showed in that final game, and this year's team has had to carry the burden of a whole heap of scorn and derision from the general public--mostly fallout from that game last year, which most of this year's st
  17. I've come to the conclusion that I might be personally responsible for America's financial woes. 1. The IT job market crashed shortly after I finished college and entered that field of work. 2. The housing market crashed around the same time I put my house on the market to sell. Coincidence?
  18. No love for Eddie? He was no mega-star like Barry, but he was decently solid in the NFL for as long as his body held up.
  19. possible explanations: 1. Major lack of confidence in the kicker. 2. Watching too many dramatic LSU game-winning-TD highlights from a couple weeks ago. 3. He's an idiot.
  20. I'm always amazed when I come across people who have seen this. I can't put my finger on why, but this movie creeps the hell out of me. Not scary, per se, but very atmospheric...it hangs with you.
  21. At one point, that album was available through emusic.com. Not sure if it still is--things sort of come and go there sometimes. Plus, you need a subscription.
  22. Ya know, Saturday night was the first time so far this season I allowed myself to believe--just a little bit--that OSU might be the real deal this year. Morelli's inconsistency is a given, so I was never too concerned about that aspect of the game. I was more interested in watching how Boeckman would fare against a solid D in a hostile environment. Not too shabby. If he can play like that in big games, they've got a shot at this thing.
  23. Congrats to the Sox. I can't believe it is over already. I mean, I forgot they were even playing tonight. Crap, I watched exactly one half of one inning of the World Series this year.
  24. Yep, I see this up on etree...along with every other recent show except the Columbus show--which is the one I'm hoping for. Oh well.
