Ah. See, the info I came up with told me this: Name: Maura Origin: Latin Meaning: Dark I'd heard of the "sorrow" connotation before, but none of my searches came up with a biblical origin/description. Funny how those name-origin sites frequently come up with conflicting information.

This seems to be the exact same sentiment I remember hearing when "Float On" first circulated, so I guess this is the new MM trend. Can't say I'm shaking with excitement for this, but will probably give the record a spin sometime. I'm kinda feeling like I've grown away from the Mouse, tho.

That's ok, in my eyes it is a perfectly acceptable cat name and therefore a somewhat unusual child's name.

My wife and I don't go for particularly common names, I guess. Here's my analysis of my kids' names: Jolene - hit its peak in the 1970s, presumably around the time of the Dolly Parton song. Currently this name is ranked so low, it might actually be in negative numbers. My daughter could possibly go her whole life without ever meeting someone who shares her name. Maura - Hey, this one made the list! 2005 rank: 807 and, the newly-settled-upon name of our baby due in April: Corrine - Once again, pretty much nonexistent.

I was thinking this, too. Watching it, my initial thought was "Okay, wow, this is getting uncomfortable," but I kept sitting there, waiting for a punchline or some small cue that he's going somewhere with this and that its part of the act. And then it never came...and the end result is just creepy. It really does look like he just melted down on stage in the worst possible way. Bizarre.

I think its interesting to see that the main contenders here (USC, Michigan, Florida) all come from different regions of the country and don't really have have much to compare by (except maybe UM and USC both play ND, who is a good measuring-stick since they are also in the top-tier, but won't make the championship b/c of the Michigan game). College football is still largely a regional thing. Its hard to gauge teams that don't play each other (or very many common opponents), so ranking them is almost always pure speculation. I really can't decide what matchup I want to see in the championship game. I'm not sure I'm sold on the idea of "rematch" games for the championship. I don't like the idea that Michigan could be rewarded for losing to OSU by getting an opportunity to not only match that defeat but to actually trump it in a bowl game. That's kind of lame. Yeah, size is really the only drawback I can see. Watching him develop the last few years has been fun. In the beginning, yes, he was the "running QB" in the 2-man rotation. He had a strong arm but he didn't fully trust it yet, so he used his feet a lot. I give him all the credit in the world for the amount of time he has put into studying the game and making himself a better player. Immediately after the game, my bro-in-law and I were discussing the possibility of a rematch and, after watching that game, we were seriously pulling for Rutgers to run the table and sneak into the championship.(no disrespect to Rutgers) With a day or two now to think about it, I don't have any strong feelings one way or another about who I want to see OSU play in the championship. I'm late to the party on this one (still recovering from the game). First off, hats off to Michigan for giving me 16 heart attacks on Saturday. Don't be too hard on Crable. In light of the outcome, yeah, I guess his mistake ends up looming rather large. But at least he was in there being aggressive and trying to make something happen in a clutch situation. Hell is a place where there is nothing to do but watch Tim Biakabatuka run all over the place, over and over again. Actually, Bo might enjoy joining Woody there. I have no idea how the motivational-factor will shake out, but I think, if anything, playing the game for him puts the game into even more of a historical context. Wow. It may sound strange coming from a Buckeye fan, but a am immensely sad to see Bo go. He was the guy that all of Buckeyeland loved to hate, but behind the hoopla of the rivalry, deep down he was a man that was deeply respected even among his adversaries.(which I hope serves as a good metaphor for the OSU/UM rivalry, at its best) My deepest respects to Bo, and condolences to Michigan fans. This week doesn't seem to be dragging any moreso than any other big-game week. In a way, I almost can't believe Saturday is almost here already.(since I've been mentally counting down to this week for a couple months now) I think its amazing just sitting back and watching the insane amount of attention this game is getting. OSU/Michigan is always big, but even the biggest rivalries are still fairly regional things. Everyone seems to be equally as jacked up for this game as I am (some maybe moreso, which is odd).
