I was disappointed to see that that bill passed in VA. Not surprised, exactly, just sad. I still love VA and at times I think I would move back there in a heartbeat, but stuff like this just makes me scratch my head and go "WTF??" I guess that's true of any state that has passed stuff like this, but it sucks more when you see your "home' state do it.

Well, its nice to see that at least something nice happened to the worst draft pick the Washington Redskins ever chose.

I didn't really follow this one too closely. I know O'Malley was generally pretty popular in Baltimore, but haven't really done my homework on him. What makes him so piece-o-crappy?

It'll be very interesting to see how Joe governs now that there is a split in power. In my observation, Joe tends to slide in the direction of power, whichever way that may be. How do you explain that he was a VP candidate in a tight, bitterly-contested campaign against this very same administration that he went on to later become very cozy with? For the past several years (I didn't live here and wasn't paying attention before that) he's had the look of someone who has possibly sold his soul as he has noddingly rubber-stamped virtually everything that comes his way. His biggest boast in h

There was a great "WTF?" moment--I can't remember now if it was on CNN or one of the local stations here--but at the very same moment they broke in to call the race for Lieberman, the tally at the bottom of the screen refreshed and showed him down by 4%. I'm assuming they knew more about the race than the on-screen stats were showing at that point, but it was definitely a head-scratcher.

Ain't entirely over yet, but yes, that was nice. I mostly had my eye on my "home" states last night: (VA, OH, CT) I grew up in (northern) VA, so its nice to see "my" part of the state stand up and say, "Hey, you know, we're not really as much of a Red state as you guys think." I haven't talked to my dad yet this morning, but I doubt he's slept yet and he's probably still pacing the halls as the recount process gets started. It was nice to see OH get a nice coat of blue paint. It was definitely past time to do some housecleaning there. CT mostly went as expected. Lieberman is still

That's good to hear. The early reports I saw on the news appeared to be rather slow in most places, but it was early so who knows? I rolled into my polling place around 8:15 and there were maybe 2 other people there. It was nice not having to wait in line, but at the same time I was like "Uhh...the election is today, right?" Given that I live in a somewhat conservative corner of my state, who knows, maybe the sparse turnout is reflective of GOP apathy on a larger scale? Probably too much to hope for. -

In Ohio, eh? Did you feel a tiny electric shock if you tried to vote for anything but a straight-GOP ticket? Here in the hills of western Connecticut, we've got the old-fashioned booths with the levers and pulleys and stuff. Kickin' it old-school... -

I voted. CT isn't really a swing state or anything, but still, it feels good to have voted. Most likely we'll still be stuck with Lieberman, but if he's going to go back to congress and continue to vote with the GOP, at least its slightly more honest of him to do it as an Independent rather than as a Democrat. -
I've heard samples of both the Radiohead and Pink Floyd cover albums and both sound much better than I ever would have dreamed (I love Toots' version of "Let Down"), but I'm still hesitant to pull the trigger and actually get these.

Any project that includes Nick Cave and Warren Ellis and has a name like Grinderman has gotta be good.

I don't get it. What's going to happen to their values? If Republicans retain control, I doubt my values will change at all.

I feel your pain. I didn't get to see any of the Michigan game and only saw the second half of the OSU game (after they curled up and went to sleep at halftime). To be honest, I kind of expected it from the Buckeyes--Tressel has a history of closing up the playbook in the weeks leading up to the Michigan game. They played this game so close to the vest that they had the look of a team going through the motions, doing just enough to escape with a win, trying not to get hurt, and trying not to expose too much of the playbook. As a fan, its a maddening thing to watch. (this was the first time -
On the brightside, at 15 years old, he can probably lend some emotional sincerity to songs like "Hot For Teacher".

That was a fun game to watch last night, but yeah, I still don't feel like I have a read on just how good those teams actually are. I mean, sure, the offenses were fun to watch, but where the hell was the defense? Both teams ran a number of plays that worked for them, but over and over I kept thinking "Jeez, there's no way that receiver shouldn't have gotten creamed on that play." Rutgers supposedly has the toughest D in the Big East (and I still can't get used to saying stuff like that), so we'll see how that matchup goes. -

Well, yeah. I'm just not a fan of blasting stuff over the PA system. Like that lion roar at Penn State games--even on TV I'm always thinking "Will somebody please shut that thing up???" But of course that's the point. I noticed that OSU has halfheartedly picked up on this and they've started playing the intro to "Hell's Bells" before key defensive 3rd downs. I guess its ok, but call me old fashioned, but I still think 100,000+ people doing the O-H-I-O chant around the stadium will always be waaaaay cooler. -

I'm so tired of speculating what hypothetical people somewhere might be thinking due to . I'm taking my tinfoil hat and going home. I haven't yet met a person who said, "Wow, you know, I was planning on voting this one way, but, you, you know, that Kerry guy who isn't currently running for anything said something I didn't like and that has changed my whole outlook on life." Maybe those people exist. Surely they must, somewhere, but I can't bring myself to care right now. Yeah, Kerry said a dumb thing in terms of the way it could be interpreted. I understand what he was trying to say an

I dunno, turning MSU into a consistent winner seems a less-daunting task than turning around Illinois or Indiana. From an outsider perspective, I always think of the Spartans as being a "dangerous" game each year on the OSU schedule--partly because you never know which team is going to show up (I'm still bitter about '98). Its a program that does seem to attract talent, although why it runs so streaky--seemingly regardless of the coach or players--is beyond me. -
Ah, that's cool then. I guess I didn't read the email very closely. Lately I've found that my download habits tend to swing back and forth--some months I seem to use up my alotted downloads almost instantly, other months I kick myself because I realize I let the month slip by without downloading a thing. I wish it were possible to "carry over" unused downloads...

I've been a member for years and, in general, have been a fan. They've broadened their list of labels and there is now plenty of good stuff there. I also just got a notice that they're upping their rates. (or, rather, lowering the amount of songs you get for the same money--same difference) Not sure if that's going to push me over the edge to drop it or not, but I'm not real happy with it at the moment.
