  1. Just because no one has posted it yet today ------- All hail the 31 October 1971 Dark Star....truly a masterpiece....
  2. I love that 7.10.1981 ---- next day is great too - Alpine.... Just listening to 28 April 1989....darn good show...
  3. Right...I see that now. I guess it could have been cary wolfson. No specific taper is identified but it has the same "feel" as the June auds (miami, etc) so I presumed Moore...
  4. I think the 7.19.1974 first set is amazingly underrated. The Scarlet may be the best version from 1974. Also, the best Bertha, Deal and BIODTL of the year... I recommend hearing the Jerry Moore audience version...It really gives the massive sound feel... Its almost like two completely different shows - the aud versus the sbd... I really prefer the audience... Seriously - If you like the sbd of 7.19.1974 and you have yet to hear the audience - you are really in for a treat... https://archive.org/details/gd1974-07-19.shure.unknown.fix-102766.102866.flac16
  5. 18 October 1974 Morning Dew (shown on Dead movie) is awesome...
  6. The Boston shows from 1976... On one of the audience shows you can hear a guy inbetween nearly every first set song just screaming (phonetically) "EYE-EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE--EYE..."
  7. I've always really liked the 04 August 1976 show...Heavy heavy heavy Lesh bombs galore... Scarlet is really deep... following a great 2 minutes of Lesh bombing the band enters an amazing Help Slip Franklins Dancin Wheel Sampson...Yow...
  8. That 94 Boston show is probably the last great Scar Fire...
  9. November 7, 1971 is much much better than November 6, 1971. the real question is..... which show was better - November 7, 1971 or October 31, 1971???
  10. I guess I'd rather not see these get eaten... So - happy new year - these four are up for grabs...for free...Will have to meet at event...Or maybe I can have willcall name changed...
  11. Bob Mould tonight....at the majestic...
  12. Saw Kurt Vile's 3 Penny Opera last night... Sorry - I mean I saw Kurt Vile and the Violators at the Pabst Theatre in Milwaukee...Excellent show....really really tight performance...
  13. The bashing is interesting. I guess critically they all deserved a lot of bashing. Jerry post 91 was (imho) horrid... Jerry's singing was frequently off... Weir singing "on our OWWWWWNNNNNNNN" was painfully and wincingly bad after 1987....yow! Lesh's harmonies in 1970! wow! horrid... 1978 Keith on piano.... 1976,7,8 Donna wails... But to say that any one of them was particularly worse than anyone else is absurd...
  14. I think the reason it worked as often as it did is that it wasn't just due to one person. You may like the color green more than any other color, but a rainbow only works with each color individually represented... Perhaps it had a lot to do with the "family" mentality. Some days everyone gets along, some days not, some days less so, some more so, but on really special days, we all get along exceptionally...
  15. Just relistened to 02 and 03 April 1989...Fun shows but not as exceptional as I remember...Very above average but not exceptional...
  16. The 15 Nov 1972 PITB is a monster...purely ephemeral Jerry...Exactly one month later he performed another amazing Truckin' Dark Star...
  17. So Many Roads is my favorite late era tune... but, to each his own...call me a whining boy if you will... Today listening to Deerhunter...
  18. Courtney Barnett - new speedway boogie...interesting...I like her...
  19. Yes...I've said this before...but 17 September 1982 comprises one of the best second sets ever...including a very fast paced Touch > Women...the Women includes an obviously "coked" out Weir screamfest...
  20. I say again the 1980 Far From Me's were pretty darn good ----- especially the Jerry ending solo and the "Hold on to" harmony from Jerry and Bob, while Brent sang, "nothin to hold on to..." Listening to 31 May 1980...Minneapolis...
  21. Sugaree in 71, 72, 73 and 74 really didn't have any big jams. Starting in 76 jerry really expanded the tune to a jam tune...in my opinion...
  22. I skip the drums... Me and my uncle is tempting... Sugaree from 1971 through 1974 was skippable too...
