Hoping for Federer and Halep to win... Today's semis were amazing on women's side...ok on mens side... Panetta had a really impressive win over Kvitova. I wasn't too happy though as I had her and Azarenka as the best chances for beating Serena or at least providing a seriously tough match for Serena. I'm happy to see Serena win the calendar slam but I want her final match to be tough. Halep Azarenka was really impressive. I really thought Azarenka was a better prior to the match, but Halep impressed me. I know she has beaten Serena before so it is possible for her to give Serena a tough

despite the distortion (blown speaker?), Jerry's soloing is astonishing...

the very early Donna was great. She was a bit more tentative (or lower in the mix?), so it wasn't as invasive as 1978....

I think it is time for Jeff to re-create a new band. The live shows seem very very similar song wise show to show. There used to be variation but it all now seems so rehearsed that the improvisation seems gone to me. I love his music and the wilco music. And I love this current line up, but if the live performances are indicative of creativity, I'd say the creativity has been spent or needs to be rekindled. My wife (who was a tweedy / wilco fan long before me) thinks the last several performances (20th anniversary chicago shows, multiple madison, milwaukee shows) sound like a Wilco cover ban

Another thought on the GD50 stuff...It wasn't the best versions of songs and I prefer 1972 Jerry over 2015 Trey, but it was definitely nice to hear the infusion of new life into the songs and jams with a new identity (Trey)... Honestly, I feel like Jeff Tweedy is due for a re-set...I will still see wilco concerts when near, but the shows have become nearly identical (even the feedback blasts), it is just getting a bit stale...

The album was compiled as a tribute of sorts to Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, the band's original keyboard player and blues aficionado, who died while it was being prepared. The "Bear" of the title is Owsley Stanley, underground chemist turned Dead sound man. The original album was recorded and produced by Stanley, and fans often simply refer to the album as Bear's Choice.[3] Side one consists of acoustic performances by McKernan, Jerry Garcia, and Bob Weir on country blues material, with one original from Workingman's Dead and a cover of one 1950s rock and roll number by the Everly Brothers. Honestly, during the first China solo I latched onto Trey's sound and followed it to the end of the show...He was the most interesting sound...And, honestly, what a great tribute to the band to have another accomplished musician learn their songs and render a new interpretation... Of all the different guitar players the core 4 have had (including "fake jerry"), Trey was the best in my opinion.
-
one other thing to note about Trey - he is presently 50 years old (turning 51 in september). Jerry was 53 when he passed. I doubt 1992 jerry (when he was 50) could have learned over 180 songs and fit into a band (like Phish) in the same way Trey did...

The only show I attended was the final performance. The songs had numerous flubs and the transitions were weak and strained --- but... that being said, the jams were really really well done I thought. To be honest, given the limited amount of time Trey had to practice with the band and to learn the plethora of songs, I was impressed. The band gave one hell of a final show - all things considered... the song choice was a bit odd...Chider, Estimated into a fantastic jam led by Trey that went into.....eyes (no), but rather Built to Last....huh? Also, another amazing Trey led jam out of mounta

Likewise - no problem...I have my favorite shows and 11.11.1973 is ____way____ up there...
