  1. I think 10.15.1977 is one of the most underrated second sets ever... The Sampson is smoking... The Terrain is deep but nicely paced... The St. Stephen solo may be the best from 76 and 77... The NFA starts with a drums / Lesh solo... Jerry on NFA is on fire... Check out Donna's "in tune" screaming during NFA... The transition into Stella is utterly beautiful and may be my favorite ever (07 Sept 1973???; 18 June 1974???)... The finale of Stella is heart wrenching... Jerry's broken string during Sugar Mag leads to a very well done Keith Sugar Mag piano lead... Find me a better SSDD instrumental
  2. Debra Koons is a real bummer as well. I believe when we were initially uploading shows to the Internet Archive the plan was to include garcia shows but this was blocked by the garcia estate... All so Debra Koons can reap money for the nassau 1989 shows....(that fall 89 tour was a really great tour - but the nassau shows while ok were not among the best)...
  3. the 83 UVM show (April 13?) was pretty interesting. Jerry's guitar had an interesting tone through the Scarfire. Also, the Throwin' Stones ended uniquely (e.g., with mydland saying Acid............all fall done)
  4. My favorite show from 75 is the 28 September 1975 show...the truckin' jam is the finest jam of all time, and the GDTRFB has the finest second jam ever, and the Saturday Night has easily the best Weir vocal trashing of all time...at least on that particular night/afternoon....
  5. I pretty much agree with his assessments. Fall 72 jam wise (e.g., Dark Star, Chider, PITB, Other One, Birdy, etc) was certainly a peak in my opinion, but song wise (e.g., Muncle, el paso, jed, sugaree, etc) is was average at best. I also think 1974 can be overrated as the band seemed tired and a bit too loose (especially august / september). I actually think one of the most underrated shows by the band in 1974 was 6-20-1974 ---- it was a rarity, tight and speed-like Grateful Dead in 1974.
  6. will wilco ever release 2001 / 2002 tour shows?
  7. what time should I get there if I want to have a good seat location? first time seeing tweedy in chicago...
  8. Scarborough on "Morning Joe" said that only 15,000 people purchased his first album - and everyone one of them went out and started a band...
  9. I would agree with that. Jerry really liked Brent (probably moreso than the rest of the band). He inspired better play in Jerry. With all due respect to 1978, it was not jerry's best year. Jerry has always liked playing off of the keyboards (Saunders, Godchaux in 71-76, Brent, Howard Wales, Melvin, etc.)...
  10. 09-17-1982.... Brent during the Space / Spanish Jam on piano (not keyboard) is breathtaking...
  11. more or less, but I do wander around from time to time. I have other projects going that are on hold. I've chronologically listened to Fall 1971 through mid Europe 72 (that project seems to be on hold), April 1979 through September 1980 (also on hold), and 1989-June 1990 (also on hold).
  12. every show that is available....started about a year ago....I listen to other stuff in between, but taking notes on each show...
  13. chronologically working my way from 1966 though? Presently up to March 29, 1968 - listening to Death Dont right now - total despair... 1968 was a tremendous year - through March...
  14. Looking to get Road Trips: Vol 2, Number 2: February 14, 1968, Carousel Ballroom Tracks from the Grateful Dead show at the Carousel Ballroom, San Francisco on February 14, 1968. Any suggestions?
  15. I don't know. I think he started using the persian again in 1989, and he was clean in 1987-1988...
  16. Probably worth getting for the 9.5.1989 don't let go... Here are my notes for the 9.5.1989 Weir / Wasserman set: The Weir Wasserman set was pretty interesting. It was nice to hear Weir step outside of his comfort box and present some solo tunes. On average, the set went from average to bad, but there were some real highlights (e.g., acoustic Victim Or The Crime, and a bit less so of the Throwin Stones). 1. Festival – cheesy Weir but somewhat catchy 2. Fever – again, cheesy, but well done 3. K.C. Moan – very interesting as it seemed Weir was truly exiting his Dead style here 4. Desolatio
  17. Nothing like Bill Walton and the awesome over-the-top dead references that left 95% of america wondering what he just said... (taken from message board).... I will never forget a TV interview with Brent Musberger back when Walton was in the NBA. His team, Portland, had won a playoff series and would now meet the Houston Rockets in the next round. Musberger: So, Bill, how about Houston? Walton: Too close to New Orleans.
