Second set coooked all the way up to the drums segmetn. Jerry really on fire at some points. Highlights were the let it grow, deal, adn other one...here are some notes i took... Dire Wolf – nice version; jerry solo smacked nicely; A Race Is On – tight and well done; jerry smacking solos nicely; ending flubbed B+ Jack A Roe – tight and rowdy version; jerry again soudnign very nice; great energy A Monkey Engineer – more solid jerry soloi

  11. We also were in the back on Jeff / Nels side of the board. The band seemed really pumped - great show overall. Got there at 7:00 - no chance of getting close. This was the first show in many that i was about 90 rows back - the sound was fantastic. They should make this an annual occurrence...
  12. Not a bad show at all. Started a bit slow but really picked up and ended very nicely. The show kicked into overdrive with the Always in Love (...brought to you by Sprint...). Dreamer in my Dreams was a real treat complete with the trademark Tweedy screams. We were in third row center and did notice a lot of photos / videos. That has never bothered me very much. With all due respect, Mr. Tweedy's comment about enjoying the show now and not later rang a bit hollow to me. I have some friends that are very disappointed if they don't capture some part of the performance in media format. They actua
  13. just listened to 5.7.1972 - Bickershaw...I remembered it being better...last half of first set was amazing / first half average. The Star was ok - a bit drifty (highlight was the 2 minute jam beginning at 7:40). the Other One had some great moments but also was a bit drifty. Sing me back home was amazing. Lovelight was a bit poppy but Jerry was on fire throughout.
  14. Ya- great stuff...damn heroin....would've been nice to see jerry age and start doing more and more solo shows...oh well - a lot of things would've been nice... In honor of memorial day...
  15. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9FTQkPuJK8&feature=player_embedded An interview done 10 days after Jerry's "comeback" gig at The Stone after his coma in 1986. This was Jerry's first interview after the coma...This was done upstairs at the Grateful Dead Ticket Sales office in front of "The Wall" of envelopes...at the end of the interview, Jerry makes some comments on the envelopes...Check out the "wall of envelopes."

  18. 10/11/1977 is a great show. I have always loved the 10.15.1977 show from Dallas. Unlike most of the 1977 shows, this show was really loose at the seams and not super-tight. There is a very drippy Terrapin > St. Stephen with a very deep and well jammed St. Stephen jam (the climax is amazing) that goes into a well jammed NFA. This goes into one of the finest stellas I've heard (cf, 8.22.1972?, 9.7.1973?, 6.18.1974?) that has a tear jerking finale (also check out the transition from NFA to Stella). The set ends with a hats off jammed Sugar Magnolia. The encore is Truckin > OMSNight....
  19. rochester minnesota davenport iowa geneva berlin 2012 - hopefully if they go back there...
  20. I used to call it on my tapes, "Stronger Than Dirt" (without the "milking the turkey ending) - just Stronger Than Dirt. But, with time that seemed to fade, and I believe it now is just referred to as Eyes of the World. Great jam...That is a great example of the Dead "rocking" in Grateful Dead styled "rocking." Perhaps the reason it is so hard to provide an example of hte Dead "rocking" for a non-Deadhead to appreciate is because the Dead were so unique to themselves. They really didn't "rock" in the traditional mainstream sense. They created their own flavor of "rock." This dilemma was a pro
  21. ...and the 9:51 point is purely amazing to see Jerry during that jam apex....eyes rolling back and dancing with his fingers...
