for those of you playing at home, that img is supposed to be a poster for the 3-D epic 'spacehunter: adventures in the forbidden zone'. pedro, i really do dig your pal's blog...please tell him to update regularaly. i also submit that you should do something similar...not just the photo thing. just a thought.

i won't debate that, but i also refuse to use that as excuse not to do everything i can to help my kids learn to try and overcome and/or work within those patterns/pressure to be a better person. there is no silver bullet, but, again, finding the best balance you can between providing for your child and preparing them to see the value of being able to provide for themselves is a HUGE part to the equation. it has to be, all signs point to me having to forgo legitimate 'retirement' and work my ass off just to keep me and my wife in a decent enviornment until we pass away. plus, if they see me

Comic Book Movie Adaptations
EL the Famous replied to EL the Famous's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
awesome, indeed. -
i submit my 22-year-old brother-in-law as proof that there is indeed a real live 'Entitlement Generation'. he's a nice kid and all, but everything is someone else's fault and he actually acts slighted that he actually needs to go to work to pay for things. he expects the job that he does have to work in be the perfect scenario...not hopes or dreams that it's the non-existent perfect job, but EXPECTS it to be. even better, he complains when my mom-in-law (a widow) expects him to pitch in on housework or groceries and was dumbfounded when she wouldn't front him some cash to get his credit car

i finally took advantage of netflix's watch movies online deal and enjoyed 'dr. goldfoot and the bikini machine'. the awesome.

when the mach 5 uses it's auto-jacks to go airbourne does it make that 'CHOWCHOWCHOWCHOWCHOW' sound? if so, that's nostalgic enough for me. funny enough, the original speed racer that aired in japan (as 'Mach Go Go Go') wasn't actually aimed at kids, it was a primetime animated series before they dubbed it in english/cleaned it up a little and aired it here in the states.

merge this fucker.

hmmm, yeah...i may still sneak out of work early this week and go catch a matinee. it does look like one of those visual overloads best viewed in a big screen format. i hear you on the swearing thing...that animated deal about the surfing penguins had a bunch of language in there that my wife was really enthused about me accidentally exposing the boys to.

if you go to prescott, stop by the walgreen's and meet the assistant manager.
-
i was going to try and catch that this weekend...now i'm thinking i'll wait until the DVD. i don't put that much creedence in reviews, but they've been pretty horrible.

it's a complete travesty that isn't availble via netflix, i'll have to check around elsewhere. finally watched 'juno' on friday night w/ the wife who has already watched it twice. great flick, loved it. also caught a TOHO sci-fi classic...'The Mysterions'. goofy fun.

Conservatives happier than liberals?
EL the Famous replied to Good Old Neon's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
not quite liberal, not totally conservative...i'm pretty happy. i'm also trying to figure out how anybody could have trouble w/ the concept that one should have to work hard to move up any sort of ladder. -

is this the guy w/ the doug, err, dog, umm, dog? -
i always made mine on a dual deck boomobox covered w/ stickers from kiss bubblegum cards. except the first one i made for yvette using a buddy's mixing board.
-
i'm a firm believer a good mix can change your life. i'm also a firm believer that the death of the casette/CD will kill the concept...it's too easy to move onto otther things when listening to a 'digital' version.

i'll be damned if i'm not going to reconstruct that thing for my iPod...that tracklist brings back good memories of beer hunter, hitter boxes and sex on the balcony.
-
me too. my roomate, buddahthreehotdogs, was a MASSIVE soul asylum fan...until they were all over MTV a few years later.
-
that's a great mix. i'm going try and re-construct one we used to play at parties we had at our apartment my sophomore year of college (1990/1991): Side A: Frank Zappa - Catholic Girls Too Much Joy - That's A Lie Pursuit of Happiness - Hard to Laugh Guns & Roses - Rocket Queen Soul Asylum - Sometime to Return Figures on a Beach - Accidentally 4th Street (Gloria) [Remix] P.I.L. - Seattle Little America - Mary Jane Love/Hate - Blackout in the Red Room Ministry - Land of Rape and Honey Replacements - Red Red Wine Public Enemy - Bring the Noise Side B: Shadrach - Beastie Boys La La Love Y
