  1. Any song by Oasis. Most of their lyrics are completely stupid non-sense but it works for them.
  2. Just listened to this for the first time today...it's better than Cassadaga and that's all I got to say.
  3. I think his new one will be great. Ask me in about a month and a half when I see him play the new stuff in concert. I, being a HUGE Sebadoh/Lou Barlow fan, fall in the "J's music is best when played with Lou Barlow camp." Although I like Green Mind quite a bit....not so much on everything else. The way Lou plays bass in Dinosaur adds that extra umph J music. The first 3 Dino albums and their last 2 are spectacular. I think J brings the best out in Lou and Lou brings the best out in J. Win-win situation.
  4. Not correct. It was released as a 2x10" LP. I guess it's the first time as a 12" but not the first time.
  5. Not really diggin' SCK but I like the Lifeguards new one. I really like the guitars on that one. He really needs to record more with Doug or better yet, another Keene Brothers album.
  6. Wilco haven't played Greenville, SC since they opened for Sheryl Crow....I think they need a Greenville show...Driving to Asheville is great but playing here in town would be awesome.
  7. Breaking up seems so cliche now. Why not just say "we're gonna take an extended break and then, in a decade or maybe less, we'll gouge the shit out of you for the reunion tour tickets." I guess that doesn't sound that sexy when you put it that way. I never saw them live, so I need to start a reunion tour ticket savings account. Their music got old to me lately, but I really dug the hell out of their firste 4 albums. Recently whenever they come up on the ipod, I'll skip them 9 out of every 10 times. I guess I'm just done with them.
  8. Can't wait for the reunion tour! Seriously, this really isn't much of a surprise. Jack seems to have been done with the Stripes for a while now...
  9. I have all of his "official" releases minus a single or two and I like Around the Well a lot.
  10. That new song is good. Do they have a new one coming out soon?
  11. I actually bought that one on RSD and listened to for a couple of tracks and it's been buried on my CD shelves since. Are there any other shows that might be close to the DT in quality? PS, those prices for that album are insane. I can say without a doubt that one of the local record stores have about 10 copies of it for $10.99, the same price I paid on RSD.
  12. That Daytrotter session is freaking fantastic: I've listened to it about 50 times. Are there any concerts/bootlegs of him playing shows like this (him + minimal accompaniment) - soundboards at that?
  13. Yeah, it's his latest. It is a very different album because it seems to be all over the place on his musical spectrum, which is a good thing. It's fairly Circus Devils meets his more poppy tunes. That said, it's another Robert Pollard album, you know...If you'ree a fan, pick it up; I'm sure you'll find something you like but this isn't the record you give to a new fan.
  14. Yup, and free shipping if you order online. I put my order in yesterday.
  15. I really loved his first two albums, The Sea & Rhythm EP and the Calexico EP. Those were stellar beyond reason. I traded a show with someone back in the '02 and they sent me a promo copy of his first album a few months before it was released and I was hooked by the folk-come-lo-fi aspect. His second album upped the fidelity and the songwriting again was stellar...Naked as We Came has to be one of the most gorgeous songs ever written in the history of man, in my opinion. Every time I hear it, it's like I've heard it for the first time: that wonderful, awesome feeling you get when you he
  16. I thought he already did: it was called The Shepard's Dog, wasn't it? I kid, I kid... The new one is great so far. I am joining the choir on this one.
  17. I really like their second album, Her Majesty, and I think that Picaresque is a close second...Their albums have gotten progressively boring, not worse per se, but still damned boring. Their last one was listened to once, maybe twice, before it was shelved away for an eternity of dust-gathering. Their new one is just what the doctor ordered though: I listened to it today and love it. Really, really like it...
  18. I buy a ton of used CDs from Amazon. I would say a good 80% of my used CDs come from there.
  19. I dunno, his lyrics just don't hit me like they used to. I am a firm believer that, so far, his best work has been with the Truckers. His first album was written/recorded when he was in DBT, so his second record was his first true solo joint. Not that it was bad, but it didn't knock my socks off either. But, y'all are right, Streetlights is a great freaking song, but the rest of the album is just "meh" to me. That said, his bands seems to have gelled really well together and have only gotten better the 4-5 times I've seen them play.
  20. I try to buy new releases, that I don't get on vinyl, the first week of release. You can usually find them on sale for around $7.99 or so, with free shipping...Vinyl is so expensive that it just makes sense to buy on cd sometimes.
  21. He played a few of the new songs back in October and they sounded more rocking, which is good...hope this one is better in the lyrics department.
  22. SEBADOH!!! and Extra Disc for Bakesale I haven't seen details for the Harmacy reissue yet but I assume that the extra tracks will be culled from the various 7" and so forth like Bakesale.
  23. Yup, the Soft Pack record came out in february according to Allmusic. And, yes, I feel that the Beach House record is far better than their previous two.
