  1. That's my opinion too. I can't seem to get away from that record. Here's my list in no particular order: Foo Fighters - Wasting Light J Mascis - Several Shades of Why Destroyer - Kaputt Mountain Goats - All Eternals Deck The Decemberists - the King is Dead Honorable mentions: Mars Classroom - The New Theory of Everything REM - Do the Collapse Dawes - Nothing is Wrong
  2. I own some of the Bootleg series, but "have" the others on mp3s. They are something that I'll pick up if I find them used and for a reasonable/cheap price. Of the top of my head, I know I have 1-3 and the last 2...Maybe some more...I dunno. I see the LPs for Empire and Infidels quite a bit...I even almost picked up a decent lp of Saved the other day for $4.
  3. I feel the same way...I love their first three albums, which seem to get derided as a whole. I feel that, for the most part, they have gotten worse with each album since. They just don't do it for me like they did when their first three albums came out. I have never seen them live, which I would gladly remedy if they would just play a little closer to home.
  4. I had never heard this until today when I picked it up on a lark and pretty much avoided anything she has been involved with over the last decade (that's just two albums...). I loved Celebrity Skin but I think I got a bad vibe from this one when it came out...I guess all the crap she does/pulls. I will say that this isn't that bad. I actually see myself liking it.
  5. So I have a Dylan-related question for the great minds here: Which of his "lesser lauded" albums should I purchase. Which album is a hidden gem that I should hunt down? I've been in a big Dylan kick lately but I am not to familiar with his other albums that aren't quite as popular as his most highly regarded albums. I have the typical Bob Dylan albums: his first album through Desire(minus his s/t and self-portrait), Oh Mercy, Slow Train, Time out Of Mind, Love and Theft, Modern Times and a few of the bootleg series...I just want to pick up more but have no clue where to start...
  6. Allmusic = 2.5 Another non-stroking review. The album is pretty good, but not as good as For emma...still doesn't diminish the fact that it's a good album.
  7. He has an actual website now and not just a redirect to merge!!!
  8. Just finished listening to that! I got the LP for my b-day the other day.... Now: I fucking love this.
  9. I don't know if this is the right place to put this or not, but the Foo's new record is still kicking my ass on a daily basis.
  10. I think his last record was so deeply personal and so much emotion was put in to it, by the artist and the listener, that it's gonna be hard for him to shake its' ghost. It had a great back story...and from my personal experience, so many of the records I love have a great story behind, not just the music. Take In the Aeroplane over the Sea for example: great story and there's no way Mangum will ever top it.
  11. So far the album is okay but nowhere near as good as For Emma. I think album sounds exactly the way I thought it would sound: different. That's neither a good or a bad thing: my expectations is that it would be different. So far, it's just not hitting me the way For Emma hit me. Yet, it took a few months for his first record to hit me...For better or worse, everybody will compare this to For Emma.
  12. Handsome Furs - Sounds Kapital (not posted the NSFW artwork) This is pretty great. I saw them perform 6 of these songs on RSD and they were pretty coked up and were bringing the sexy to the stage.
  13. She also said that she had a touch of writer's block/fatigue. Great news...I am trying to get our secretary at work into her...
  14. I think I can wade into the "what's his best album/where to start" debate now...I've gotten all of his albums except for The Hill (I do have a mp3 copy broken up into different tracks). I really like Dents and Shells, Impasse and his self-titled release. All are freaking great in my opinion. Been really digging his s/t release since purchasing it last week. release? Is there a digital version available?
  15. Agreed, they did it right and they aren't that expensive to boot. I have bought all the deluxe reissues brand new for under $15, which is great in my opinion. Sebadoh has also done a great job with their reissues too...
  16. I saw Buckner in Atlanta: it was awesome and made me a fan. Seeing him live vs. listening to his records is so different. I've been slowly buying his catalog, and as a whole, it's amazing. Just a few more albums to digest...his music just buries itself in the sub-conscience.
  17. I go deerhunter...I never listened to Deertick and I really haven't been able to get into Deerhoof.
  18. My twin brother and I share and overlapping in several musical areas and bands. However, we have divergent musical tastes/bands too. I'm more indie/alt-country/alternative/current and he's more into British/glam/80's/post-punk. I hip him to newer bands that he may like and he hips me to some older obscure stuff. My other brother and sister are older...My brother likes the Stones and AC/DC. My sister, jesus music. Whoever said that thing about the country song with the whiskey-frisky country shite is funny as hell! My wife listens to that terrible shit! Freaking awful!
