I really like the vocals on this one. -
Your favorite artists that don't do a thing for you

The Eagles -
I think the last one leaked just as early...'Tis the night when all cows are black...

Double nice call on the Wig comparison. I was thinking that today when I finally got around to listening to it. I really like Patterson's songs on this one. Definitely better than The Big to Do in my book.

Highly Praised Music Artists That Don't Do a Thing for You
brianjeremy replied to GtrPlyr's topic in Someone Else's Song
U2 - Ok singles band but can't stand their albums. David Bowie - Love Ziggy and a few of his early albums but nothing else. I never say "Let's listen to Low"...or anything like that. Gaslight Anthem - Not sure if they're highly praised but a few songs are alright but overall Black Sabbath - Just not me. Talking Heads - Not sure why but I can't really ever get into them. I have a compilation of theirs but I rarely if ever listen to it. -
That's nice. I really want to listen to it but it's gonna be a few days until I get enough time.

Band that you like the 'idea of'...
brianjeremy replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah...they seem to be bands that should interest me and people keep telling me that I need to check this or that out by them in an attempt to sway me, yet I haven't either a)listened to them or just don't get the love admiration. On paper, it seems that I should really like these bands and/or at least appreciate their music on a deeper level. Maybe the Wrens don't belong on that lit because Meadowlands is a brilliant album... -
This leaked a few days ago...I have yet to listen to it though...

Band that you like the 'idea of'...
brianjeremy replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
I am just bored when I listen to the Minutemen - their music just sounds plain. It does nothing for me. I keep trying too. I went so far to buy a 180 gram vinyl edition of Double Nickels thinking that a vinyl listening experience would alter my opinion but it hasn't. -

A few that have been on my mind lately... The Minutemen - I just don't see why people think they're so great...I have Double Nickels but it's just bland/generic to me. The Clash - I still listen to them but I get so bored with them after about 2-3 songs. In a small single track dose, I love 'em but an album length dose is a bit much. The Wrens - I really love Meadowlands but their other albums also fall in the meh-category. Roxy Music - My brother let me borrow a compilation album of their earlier stuff recently and I can't stand it. -
I think so too....or the Arcade Fire. Both are great.

I would like to say how shitty it is that there is a re-released edition of the National's High Violet. Not only does it have a bonus disc, it is apparently cheaper. At my local record store, they had a sticker that was obviously a manufactures sticker on that said "Limited Edition - $7.99." I bought it the same record store for several dollars more the day it came out. Does this not suck?

Really watched, but I also listened:

I guess I should have said he puts less heart into it now. And it took a while for him to get those performances for those songs since many of them were demoed for several sessions before those final cuts were produced. He was on fire in the late 90's and early 00's but now you can really tell that he just doesn't put that much into his craft anymore...

Jeff Mangum to record track for Chris Knox compilation
brianjeremy replied to Good Old Neon's topic in Someone Else's Song
Lucky bastards - Jeff Mangum plays suprise show... Setlist: 01 Oh Comely 02 In the Aeroplane Over the Sea 03 Gardenhead 04 Engine 05 Ghost 06 King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1 07 Song Against Sex 08 Naomi 09 Two Headed Boy 10 Two Headed Boy Pt. 2 -
I love RNR and LIH but this album just isn't doing it for me. It's sounds like his dicking around, perhaps not as much as all of the DJ Reggie and so on, but still not giving his 100%. I'm sure he has another JCN or Cold Roses or Heartbreaker in him, I just don't he wants to put the effort into making that record. I'm sure he'll get around to it but until he starts releasing newer material, I don't think his fans are going to hear his best musicial efforts.

Spoon: Bonus Songs 2008-2009
brianjeremy replied to choo-choo-charlie's topic in Someone Else's Song
How many songs were originally issued on their website? Did all of the ones that were released make it on this release? I ordered it the other day...hope it arrives soon. -
After the excitment of hearing a new RA album, it just seems kind of generic like everyone else seems to think. The lyrics, even when compared to RNR, is lyrically weak. The music is alright. It's strange that he chose this one to put out this one instead of some of his other unreleased albums.

Man, I'm gonna have to think about this and listen to more of my stuff from 2010. So far, I guess the Arcade Fire, No Age or Beach House would be at the top of list for me...Beach Fossil and the Wild Nothing albums were also really good this year but I haven't really revisited them much over the past few months.
