  1. I loved Charlie dearly for his curmudgeonly attitude to the 'upstart' rock'n'roll compared to his beloved jazz, and his drum sound on the Some Girls album is one of my favourites. Found this on Wikipedia that's so funny if true. One anecdote relates that in the mid-1980s, an intoxicated Jagger phoned Watts's hotel room in the middle of the night, asking, "Where's my drummer?" Watts reportedly got up, shaved, dressed in a suit, put on a tie and freshly shined shoes, descended the stairs, and punched Jagger in the face, saying: "Don't ever call me your drummer again. You're my f
  2. Just come across this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFRbTr70tdM Which apart from the music, Don has some great Banter - several minutes around 8 min, then another chunk around 17 min mark. Maybe some more I haven't got to yet.
  3. Hope that the fact you're posting means you're feeling better now Donna. Take care. P.S. Still on tenderhooks for that Wilco - The Snoozy Years story.
  4. Ta. Wonder if they'll be an Everly Brothers cover tonight? Maybe JT could harmonise with John?
  5. No one else started one by now - wow. Few things more beautiful in this world than an Everly Brothers harmony. Not enough harmonies around these days. And thanks for being part of the Beatles inspiration Don.
  6. Ta. Thanks for soldiering on through all these adverse conditions (you and the band).
  7. Delayed Ta since you're not yet part of my weekend rituals. P.S. If you want to become part of my weekend rituals, are a virgin with long flowing locks, voluminous semi-transparent gown, and gently heaving bosom, then please apply via the usual channels at druids.com.
  8. Not bad. I am assuming the pronunciation was the proper 'bastud' though.
  9. I think 'toot' is the technical term, and if it isn't then it should be. A bonbon to blow on indeed.
  10. If you're going to pigeon-hole me I prefer to be labelled as tea-guzzling curmudgeon, thank you. Ta
  11. Ta to theashtraysays for fillling bbop;s boots (or was that just a nasty rumour).
  12. If Dante was alive today, Via Chicago would defo be one of the extra Circles of Hell.
  13. Sorry to hear you lost out. Still, good to know that even after the enforced layoff, Wilco are still more entertaining than a vat of used hot grease (which I have always said so myself). Ta (kinda)
  14. As I've said before, definitely in the mood for upbeat, if not out-and-out raucous shows after all this time (if I was in any position to attend). Ode To Joy may be many things, but I would say that upbeat is not one of them.
  15. Interesting. Don't know how much of the Wikipedia entry you read then, but The Two Ronnies sketch show was a national institution - though the real pinnacle of his career was Porridge - you really need to watch some of those. I seem to remember that there was a US remake that wasn't succesful. The strange thing about The Two Ronnies was that Barker wrote most of the show under an assumed name and no one else knew who it was posting in scripts for sketches until after many years very near the end when everyone met up at a pub and were hanging around waiting for the main writer to show up - then
  16. Another nail in the heart of Via Chicago after the FaceBook Group :-) Seriously, could be very interesting, though as a UKer I will be on the freebie option as I think (as for The Tweedy Show) it will be US-centric for times and activities etc. I will appreciate getting some more of Jeff's humour (actually the thing that made me a 'fan' rather than just a music lover like with other bands that just get my deep appreciation - which is actually a select few - I'm pretty picky). There was some humour in the TTS of course but due to timing I have only seen about half a dozen of those and act
  17. A genuine laugh out load moment when I read that. How long does it take episodes to get uploaded to YouTube these days? I will have to look out for No. 200. P.S. Thanks for the summaries from me too. I don't watch what with the time difference, but special episodes like this I will try to catch.
  18. Digging the first double A-side single "Nippy in the Trossachs" / "Bottle of Bucky (Girl you are my Commotion Lotion)"
  19. <Interference on channel ...> "You have Barry Manilow to trade earth showpony?" </Interference on channel ...>
  20. Just you and Chuck Berry. Still looking for this one for your collection?
