  1. BBC iPlayer so I don't know if you can get that. Or YouTube? Just found one of them: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVgak9w7g_0 Meanwhile: Derry Girls
  2. ^^^ Interesting ... Was in Twickenham the other day, and yesterday someone in the office said that Macca was seen out and about in central London - possibly something to do with 50 years since the rooftop event? Haven't heard anything today though.
  3. "Guitar, Drum, and Bass" = 3 x 1 hour episodes Stewart Copeland, Tina Weymouth, Lenny Kaye explore the rock/pop history of their instruments. Nicely done. Elvis - Rebirth of the King. Another BBC music doc exploring the comeback special and the first couple of Vegas years before the burgers.

  5. Yesterday I went to Charles Darwin's old house. Today I feel much more in touch with my inner monkey.
  6. There seemed to me to be a bit more of a rasping edge to JTs voice on that Kimmel performance than I’ve noticed for some years. Used to love it from the ciggie days and very glad it’s back.
  7. Days Without End - Sebastian Barry A rare fiction read for me - free book at a holiday hotel swap stand. Heard parts of it when it was abridged on radio. Still have the narrators old time drawl accent in my head so enjoying reading it at storytelling speed hearing that voice in my head.
  8. Seminal. Memories of 'Boredom' blaring from the tranny*. * Old peoples slang for transistor radio (playing John Peel).
  9. Ta. Any indication whether the remaining ‘solo’ tour shows are just JT or this band?
  10. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/jeff-tweedy-book-excerpt-addiction-anxiety-a-ghost-is-born-752428/ They’ve gone for the obvious issue as an excerpt, but I like what I read in terms of general style, a lot more lucid detail than I was expecting, etc. P.S. “Suppository”

  12. Yeah I get that, and have read some terrible memoirs in the past from rugby players done that way. It just seemed that if the book took 2 years to come together as JT has said then I imagined (backed up by what I perceive as the work ethic he applies to making music) that it might indeed be more his effort than anyone else's and involved more than stitching together some transcripts, but I would like to hear definitively what the real situation was/is.
  13. Skimmed the Uncut article in a newsagent. Again some pointers to the memoir being an interesting read. A while back I saw something somewhere that mentioned a ghost writer being involved. Can't pinpoint where and don't know if it's true. If it is I would hope that it is acknowledged in the book, since JT's sense of humour is the major part of my becoming a fan rather than a listener and I'm wondering how that will manifest itself in the writing. I'm sure many here who feel a connection of some kind would also like to know if the book represents a truly authentic voice, perhaps especially for
  14. Fear not! All you need do is wear a small hat adorned with an “I am Bbop” badge and you will be hoisted aloft by the masses and transported shoulder high wherever you desire. Indoors, where height restrictions might apply, rose petals would be scattered in front of your path. You would never need to buy a drink all weekend, and any bathroom would be made available for your personal use. During encores the assembled throng will chant your name to the rhythm of your swaying arm. Such is your high regard amongst the faithful. All this you would then summarise in a daily decription of your aweso

  16. My mass has been placated, and any excuse to post a Monkee pic of Mike looking intrigued is welcome. Thank you.
  17. Found it in your notes for "27 April 2018, Chicago, IL (Vic Theatre) Benefit for Education Night 1 of 2". I knew you wouldn't let me down ...
  18. Ta. Presume they're not selling advance copies of WARM from the merch stall, in which case someone might give an initial impression. Am I right in remembering a song for which the main repeated refrain seemed to be 'drawing from memory". Don't see anything on the WARM listing that matches that - though as you have said, the song that was labelled New Wave Theatre turned out to be called something else, so maybe that's going on here too.
