  1. Not so much - like many, most music is snatched half hours here on earphones and there with random selections. About once a month might get time for a full album on headphones. The time I did listen to most music on my commute I now spend listening to dramatised plays and spoken word readings mostly.
  2. http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/08/a-wilco-state-of-mind/ Excellent whole band piece. Some nice quotes and I certainly like the way Nels' mind works.
  3. Ditto That has been confirmed in interviews.
  4. Happy birthday JT. You're not a bad geezer. Ta. (That's British understatement for you)
  5. I believe the precise mathematical definition would be a 3-tuple, commonly known as a treble or triplet. But I think the 'three bangerz' would suffice in this case.
  6. I had that sense of a professional but not inspiring experience in Santiago de Compostela, which again may not have been due to the band per se, though it was the WTA tour. It's hard to put myself in the place of those scrutinising the variety of the setlists since it feels like a long time since Wilco were in London, and it is. Since then there has been the coming and going of Star Wars, ditto the hootenany segment, and in November Schmilco will be out, so God knows what the setlist will be like on that night. I wish they had 2 nights in London like last time at the Roundhouse, when the secon
  7. i just closed the 'sign in' popup screen and the article became visible (on iPad). Not a lot of meat in terms of text, but some quality photos. It's probably better titled 'Jeff Tweedy - A Stalkers Guide'
  8. I am all about melody and still find JT as one of its greatest purveyors. I get your point with some of the obvious word play / Come Together style lyrics on some songs, but Where Do I Begin has plenty of emotion when I listen to it, for example.
  9. That was entertaining. A bit "geezerish" myself.
  10. I respect your opinion and have some sympathy with it, since I was having similar thoughts in the Sky Blue Sky/The Album period, but I really loved The Whole Love and that arrested the decline in my interest. The Tweedy album and Star Wars were great, and I'm hoping that continues with the new one, but I do mantain a critical not sycophantic ear.
  11. Best description I ever read was something like '5 geography teachers and a tramp'
  12. A self valedictory bump and a repeated request for another night in London
  13. Was about to edit for that but then got distracted with work :-) Good times - the rugby world cup semi in 2011 was bigger for me, but as this is footie it's globally more significant. A couple of our better players have to miss the match, but fingers crossed. Bale and the current Welsh rugby captain were in the same school year and the same 5 a side team. The PE teacher made Bale play only with his left foot to make things fairer for the opposition. Refreshing to see a team of footballers who aren't twats.
  14. Safe travels Bbop, and if you can get in front of a TV tonight you can watch Wales v Portugal. I'm sure Wilco will delay starting until it's over.
  15. Been listening to this series for a while. A half hour format of an artist chatting about a seminal album they produced and performing a couple of tracks live. There has been a spin off extra half hour of audience Q&A. A wide variety of subjects. JT should do one (if you pardon the expression). Worth trying to hear from the US if possible. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36357574 All the news this week is about a Macca special. Seems to be deviating from the one album format for him, but who cares. In this case they have also filmed the whole thing and its 45 minutes. Ca
