  1. I like this record a lot. I have been listening to it quite a bit since I downloaded it. I am going to the last of the five NYC shows this coming Saturday. That show is going to be broadcast online by NPR. Here's the link to the info: Pitchfork
  2. I would love to hear this. Can someone help me out? Mission of Burma's reunion has been amazing. They have released two very good records and the live shows are great. They are a band that was/is criminally underrated so it is nice to see them getting long overdue attention even if it is on a small scale.
  3. Seconded. We haven't had a Wilco show here since the NYE 2004 show. It's been too long.
  4. I saw the band during their run of shows in New York in November and I wasn't blown away by the new songs. If you are expecting a heavy Johnny Marr influence on the sound, based on what I saw, you are going to be disappointed. The show was good but it's not out of the question that the new record might not live up to past glories.
  5. I know The Shins included a coupon for a free digital download of their new album inside of the vinyl pressing. It seems that bands that press their records on vinyl are starting to make this move. Hopefully, Wilco will follow suit and allow people who buy the new one on vinyl to get a free digital download along with it.
  6. I remember reading somewhere that Bob Mould was approached about producing the record and things didn't work out. If memory serves, Bob made a comment to the effect that the record would have sounded very different if he had produced it. What could have been.
  7. I can't wait for the New York show in March. I was very disappointed that I missed all of their CMJ shows late last year. TB,TB,TM was one of my favorite records last year.
  8. Time Fades Away is great but I don't think it will ever be released on CD. I believe the story is that they recorded it in a peculiar way and Neil could never find a satisfactory sound on CD. I am sure some of the Neil fans here can fill in the exact details. I was at the WFMU record fair in New York this weekend and I saw a number of copies on vinyl there for 10-15 dollars. In fact, I bought my copy at that same record fair two years ago so it's not an impossible item to find.
  9. I love these guys. Thanks for the map. The show in NYC Sunday night was great and both the band and the crowd had a phenomenal time. Glad to see them getting a bigger push for the new record. It will be interesting to see how many new fans it brings the band. They certainly deserve it. If you want to check out their new record, Boys and Girls in America, their is an online listening party for it here: The Hold Steady
  10. What's your point? I would like to see Wilco again sometime soon. How many other bands come through town has nothing to do with that.
  11. I couldn't make the show. It has been a long time between shows in New York and they have toured a lot in that time period.
  12. Give her what she wants and get what you want. Sounds easy.
  13. I'm starting to wonder what we did wrong. They haven't come through town since the 2004 NYE show at the Garden. I saw the Tweedy solo show at the Downtown Rising festival last year but I am dying for a full band show.
  14. Brooklyn Vegan is reporting that Jeff will be playing with GS tonight. Brooklyn Vegan
  15. Yes, it was. The show was filmed by HBO for their Reverb show. It was a phenomenal show.
  16. Thanks for the link. My favorite version of DIMD is the 2/15/97 Irving Plaza performance. Second to last song of an absolutely raucous performance and band ripped it up. I doubt I will ever see any incarnation of Wilco put on a better show than the one they gave that night.
  17. There's a clip on that website. Looks pretty good.
  18. Excellent show last night at the Seaport. The band played a good mix of songs from the records, Ted covered Dirty Old Town solo in the encore, closed with a full band cover of Suspect Device, and they played a bunch of new songs that sounded good. I hope that he continues to play these annual free shows there. They are really a treat. We also got a pretty good set from Tokyo Police Club and a set from DC Snipers who were a lot of fun. It was a really great night of free music. Can't beat that.
  19. For any NYC area members, Ted and the Pharmacists are playing a free show at the South Street Seaport on Friday night. Should be great.
  20. Anyone have a link to or MP3 of this track so I can check it out? Thanks in advance.
  21. Heroin is already out and it's not even in the top 50. Can people at least see the whole list before the slamming commences? For a group of people who hate Pitchfork for being snarky, the posters here sometimes seem like they are auditioning for jobs at the website.
  22. Ugh. I can't stand Webster Hall. I just went there for the Sleater-Kinney show last week and the venue, as usual, sucked. Hottest day of the year in NYC and the temperature in the club had to be triple digits. Instead of helping people out by giving out cups of water at the bar, they were telling them that they could buy a $4 bottle of water instead. I understand that everyone has to make a buck but this was ridiculous. This is really making me wish that I had gone to see GS at Bowery Ballroom at the end of last month.
  23. The band put on an amazing farewell performance in NYC last night. It was high energy in spite of the oppressive heat. They played two encores because the crowd didn't want it to end. The setlist was excellent and drew from all of their records (except the s/t debut) with an emphasis on The Woods and Dig Me Out. The crowd was very into the show and the band definitely fed off of that. It was an emotional night and S-K showed again why they are one of the best bands of their generation. They will be sorely missed. Here's a link to some pictures of the show and the setlist. Brooklyn Vegan
  24. I have a couple of questions about the Heartbreaker demos. What is the setlist? Also, is there a problem with the posted link? I can't get it to download.
