  1. I definitely have "fair-weather" friends when it comes to shows. Everyone's flaked out on me for this show tonight. I have 1 balcony seat if anyone's interested. Portastatic (Mac from Superchunk) is opening. Let me know if you're interested, either here or at landrigan17@yahoo.com. Ticket was $34 w/ fees included, but I'd be willing to make it a freebie here for anyone willing to brave the cold. I plan on getting there about 8, but I'll only have computer access until about 4, so you have to get back to me quick. In case anyone's wondering, Town Hall is at 123 West 43rd.
  2. I'd like them to play in Burlington again too, definitely one of my my favorite places. The streets of Burlington were where I met the guys for the first time as well, which was really cool. However, like jbat said, that last Memorial Auditorium show was the most sparcely attended Wilco show I've ever seen. That probably has something to do with it. Btw, if you read this Carbone/Dupree, are you originally from New Jersey??? If so, I think I know you. If not, sorry for the insult from a flatlander.
  3. I can't understand what there is to hate about Peyton. I hate Eli right now, but that's because I'm a Giants fan and he sucks. Most people I know have great respect for him, and would kill to have him as their team's quarterback. Is it all the commercials? Then you'd have to hate Tiger and every NBA star of the last 20 years.
  4. I take it you're not an American Idol fan. Good for you. I wish I didn't know that.
  5. Game 1 -- Saints Weather worries me, but the Bears overrated D does not (nor does Grossman). Game 2 -- Colts Everything about the Pats worries me, but I just think it's time. Whatever happens, should be a great day. Kinda depressing too, because it's the last great football weekend. Super Bowl doesn't even feel like a real game anymore, and it usually sucks.
  6. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...riendID=4338813 THE SONS OF CAIN!!!
  7. It great to see these guys get props from some people here whose music opinions I definitely value. I was born in Hackensack too, so how can I not love them. Some of my favorite shows of all-time were seeing them at small Jersey clubs in the late 90s-early 00s (RIP Tradewinds). Barbara H. is one of my favorite tunes ever, and Troubled Times always makes an appearance when I'm having problems with the ladies.
  8. "Ostensibly a tour to promote a new live solo DVD" I like that one. Yeah, Jeff is such a blatant self-promoter.
  9. Nice call. I'd never really listened to them before, but this tune sucked me in right away.
  10. I think I do too, and I've only spent about twenty minutes with it.
  11. http://www.myspace.com/clapyourhandssayyeah Good stuff!!!
  12. Here's one version of Cars Can't Escape (Rhythm) from the YHF Demos. Without a doubt, one of my favs. http://www.sendspace.com/file/2ri08u
  13. I nominate Mende to be the guy who explains to the crowd what the Kingpin scream is all about, like Paul got to do at last year's Pines Theater show.
  14. You just cannot compare late 70s-early 80s stats to today (90-present). No juiced balls, no juiced bats, no juiced players, etc..etc..etc... It was a pitching dominated period, and Rice's numbers topped that period. It's just that simple.
  15. Not to harp on the Rice thing, but why not? From 1975-1986, he led the AL in home runs, rbi's, slugging pct, and total bases. From Ripken yesterday: "I also think Jim Rice should be elected for the same reason as Goose. He was a dominant player and the guy I feared coming to bat against us more than anyone." Why do I even care? I hate the Red Sox.
  16. I stand corrected. If Bill James says it, it must be true. For the record, Rice's career OPS was .854, Ripken's was .787. Not saying Ripken's not a hall of famer, but Rice definitely belongs too.
  17. Rice was the most dominant and feared hitter in the game for a decade. End of story.
  18. It continues to be a joke that Rice isn't in. Gossage fell 21 votes short. Take away the streak, who thinks Ripken was a GREAT player?
  19. You think he fumbled the snap because he had too much on his plate? Ridiculous. It was a fluke, that's all. You usually want a QB as your holder, and there's no way Bledoe was going to volunteer for the job once he got benched. Also, there's quite a few starting QB's who are also their teams' holders.
  20. It's a Golden Smog tune, from the album Weird Tales (1998).
  21. I was referring to the fact that some people believe that the SEC should never lose, especially to the supposedly down Big Ten. I'm sick of SEC fans, Urban Meyer, etc etc. Here's hoping ND gives a good showing tonight, and that the Gators get romped. I'll even just take the second one.
  22. The big bad SEC's sure had a great showing so far.
  23. A good chiropractor is the best thing anyone (even if you don't necessarily have back problems) can have. "The doctor of the future will give no medicine but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease". Thomas Edison "Look well to the spine for the cause of disease". Hippocrates Sorry...I can never pass up an opportunity to extol the virtues of regular chiropractic care. I'm thankful that my step-father decided to become a chiropractor 25 years ago. I haven't been to medical doctor since. Also tha
