I dunno, someone posted an article on another board that said NL pitchers have a tendency to throw more fastballs, though it may just be the pitchers hitting thing. I'm looking for the article right now. I still think Pena's going to get 600 at bats for someone and hit 35-40 home runs some year, and if the price is right, I wouldn't mind the Marlins grabbing him.
-
He'll have more success in the NL. NL pitchers throw more fastballs, don't they?
-
I am really hoping the Marlins offer the Sox a PTBNL and scoop up Wily Mo. I don't care if he can't play center very well, put him out there anyways. If he hits 40 homers, I'll be ok with the no defense thing.

Boy, what a crappy game to go to today. Justin Upton made a crappy play on a ball and he ended up dropping it and letting the runner get on, and he screamed "FUCK" about 5 times at the top of his lungs. My friends and I were heckling him up to that point, and then after that, we pretty much stopped. He's a big guy, and he had a look of death in his eyes...

I think you mean "latina" asses, unless there's something I didn't know about Mr. Van Halen.

El-P is pretty great.

I'm going to pass on commenting on Rizzuto's HoF worthiness.

Seriously. Not that I was seriously planning on going, given how expensive the tickets are bound to be, but still it would've been nice to have the option.
-
But seriously, whats up with that?

Also, I think some pretty good hip hop came out after 97, though obviously not as many. But still, Eminem's first two albums are pretty damn great, Like Water For Chocolate is a pretty awesome album, Kanye's released a couple of great albums, not to mention Outkast.

I want to put Late Registration in my top 5, but I seem to be the only person who considers that a classic. I credit that album with getting me back into hip hop when I started believing that nothing good was coming out of the genre. Thanks to that album, I started listening to alot more hip hop, and I discovered guys like Common and Lupe, plus I went back and discovered Illmatic and Reasonable Doubt and a whole slew of other records that he references in that one.

Come and get me, bitches. Roll up in the PP you'll see how we roll.

Of course, what the hell do I know about hip hop, I'm a white/peurto rican who lives in a gated community in Pembroke Pines, Florida. My top 5 hip hops albums: 1. Nas- Illmatic 2. Beastie Boys- Paul's Boutique (Every damn song is a classic) after that, it gets really cloudy, but I get the feeling the Grey Album by Danger Mouse might be on there, so, again, what the hell do I know?

Ah, yeah. That makes sense, as the Chronic always seemed like a pretty handy dividing line between "old school" and "new school".
-
I did not realize the Chronic came out in the early period...

93-97 has what I consider to be handsdown the best hip hop record of all time in Illmatic. That probably gives it the edge, though 88-92 had some amazing stuff that was more socially conscious and arguably more important. I just think the music itself was better in the latter period. Plus Illmatic is so far above every other hip hop album that even if that was the only record released in those 4 years, I might still give it to that period.

I would guess a lot of SoSH guys are big Moneyball fans, and Cust is a big MB type of guy.

I've always hated the term "making things happen" when it's used for guys like Pierre and Podsednik, but watching Hanley every day, he's the definition of making things happen. It is ridiculous how good this guy is, and I'm sure you guys are sick of hearing about it, but he's really good. Hanley in July: .424/.451/.812 1.263 Hanley in August: .333/.396/.625 1.021 I wish everyone got to watch this guy every day... 2 for 2 today with a double, a single, and 2 runs. I think he stole a base, also. Meanwhile, Miguel Cabrera is 2nd in the NL in OPS, and is 2-2 with a 2B and a HR and 3 rbi and

I don't have an account, but I read it from time to time. Some pretty knowledgable posters on that board. Probably the best baseball board I've ever seen, though being a non Red Sox fan, something is lost in the translation. Still, it can be fun to read. (though I did register just now. Why not?)

There was a list of "Hanley Ramirez Facts" from SOSH but I can't find it anywhere...

That was a cool shirt. I am not wearing the same shirt I wore that night. I don't think. I don't remember what I wore that night, though...

Paul's Boutique is in my cd player right now, no lie. Happy birthday.

Except every single Single 50's released for this record has fallen pretty flat, whereas Kanye's got a bonafide hit, and another single that's getting pretty good play on MTV. Not to mention "Bittersweet" hasn't been released yet, and you just know that songs going to blow up. I think it'll be close.

I figured if I was going to reply to that article, I needed to, at the very least use an SAT word. I was going to say "poopy read", but I save that for Pitchfork articles... But really, sure it was well written, but I didn't pick up the point. Maybe I'm just too dense, but it seemed like he was just writing for writing's sake and didn't actually say anything that stuck with me.

What an arduous read. I read that article twice and still don't get his point...
