Maybe, but I disagree with much of their platform, too. I guess I'm doomed to be party-less, which is unfortunate because I love to party.

No, I respond to what you post. I don't see you or anyone else as the living, breathing incarnation of a political party. My affinity for the GOP is nowhere near what you appear to believe; I have more negative feelings toward them than positive. (The same holds true for the Democratic Party.)

This place is fairly pleasant and polite as a whole. I stopped participating in another large/secret online forum after rude comments were made while my former father-in-law was dying of ALS. He was a Republican politician and a few people couldn't resist turning his slow, painful death into a political pissing match. Some people aren't as open-minded as they think.

When did I ever say such a thing? If you're going to call me out by name, at least ensure that you're addressing something that I've actually said or believe.

I don't think it was a paid day off for most people. I worked on the 4th and the office buildings in the area were deserted. Friday the parking lots were full again. I agree that they should be rare, so I looked up the stats and found that they are anything but: http://www.cdc.gov/reproductivehealth/Data_Stats/

I included a link to a news story about new laws that took place in Colorado on July 1st. http://www.voanews.com/content/obama-gun-laws/1647600.html I'm unaware of that quote.

I suspect it means nothing. Last week didn't even have a long weekend.

If you don't like the subject matter, then stay out of the debate. But if you make false claims about gun laws not changing when, in fact, gun laws changed this week, then allow someone to reply without resorting to I DON'T FUCKING CARE. I hereby declare that the Dem vs GOP stalemate is nothing but a pissing match and not worthy of discussion. We might as well close this thread. Or we can discuss anything and everything that is political in nature and not chastise people for debating a subject that we may find tired or uninteresting.

A nonsensical Facebook "infographic" deserves a nonsensical response. I believe I've shown that I am capable of politely and competently discussing the topic at length. Gun laws have changed dramatically (for the worse) over the last few months and politicians from President Obama on down have said that they plan to enact still more legislation in the near future.

Poppycock.

They felt that they elected the Muslim Brotherhood guy only because the alternative was another military junta. Now they want the Brotherhood out (which is probably a good thing, depending on who replaces him.)

Wilco's Facebook page says that Nels also sang at some point during the night. Any idea what he sang? -

AmericanaramA Concert 2 - Tampa, FL 6/27/13

I had a ticket for the Tampa show but decided that it was too close to Solid Sound for more traveling, so I gave it away. Then I bought a ticket for the Irvine show and now it looks like I may have to miss it due to office obligations. Hope it's a great show! -
The perfect wedding gift for all the soon-to-be-married couples? A gun, of course.

No, for stealing classified information and handing it over to our nation's enemies, despite having sworn an oath to the contrary. I'm cool with that. Maybe a doubleheader with Bradley Manning?

Hopefully his wish will come true.

Sunday's heat made Solid Sound Day 3 pretty uncomfortable. Think how people in Fairbanks must feel right now:
-
Most of the major gun manufacturers are in the northeast and governors from gun-friendly states like Texas are trying to woo them (and their money) away.
-
I expect that "heat of the moment" decisions to kill someone are made in the moment, using whatever knife/gun/whatever is available. I doubt many people get in the car, drive down to the gun store, pay $500, take a background check and drive back to complete their murderous ambition. California has a 10-day (I think) waiting period for handgun purchases, but it has a higher firearm murder rate per capita than other states that don't. It really all comes down to demographics: the more street thugs, drug dealers, gang members and illegal guns you have on the streets, the more gun crime you hav
-
I'd imagine that the lives saved by waiting periods are few, but the notable exception would be potential suicides who might have second thoughts a few days later.

Please let me speak for myself.

Fixed it for ya.
