  1. Viv and Keith Moon fooling around in a very politically incorrect manner:
  2. It's being broadcast in hi-def and Dolby 5.1 this year. It'd be nice if someone could capture it at this resolution. I can record HD using a rinkydink USB attachment on my iMac, but I've only tried it a couple of times and there have been some dropouts and stutters. It may be a weak signal due to the rabbit ears I'm using for an antenna. Also, it looks like my station doesn't broadcast in 5.1. I've seen "scene" releases on Usenet that are HD and 5.1, so you can probably rely on them. You'll have to live with some compression down to a 700MB xvid file, but who wants to download the full ~15
  3. I'm drinking one of these right now. Hoppy! (Also, 8.8% alcohol by volume.)
  4. Agreed, and I'm hoping this movie won't be a letdown: http://www.thewhomovie.com/
  5. Here's a video clip (extracted from a "scene" release) of the Leno performance. It's from a HD broadcast and looks better than the video linked here earlier. http://www.sendspace.com/file/jiwrgs
  6. That's why they invented aeroplanes. The Singers dates will be worth traveling to see.

My son and I spent an hour or two there. The nice woman behind the bar even bought me a Guinness.

The cameraman mentioned something about 44 minutes of performance. I actually ran into him on the street a few hours after the show and he said that the initial playbacks looked fantastic.

I just noticed that the handout from the show says that Wilco's episode will air in November. No exact date is listed, but these other shows are mentioned: Norah Jones: October 6th Decemberists w/ Explosions in the Sky: October 13th Femi Kuti: October 20th Jimmy Reed Tribute: October 27th So maybe one can infer that Wilco will air November 3rd?

No, everything was done once and straight through. Someone ran on stage after the not-so-perfect ending of "Too Far Apart" but I'm not sure if the producers were asking about doing another take or not.

I took a lame photo with my phone before the show: I saw someone's camera/phone being confiscated during the taping. The confiscating dude swept out of nowhere and back to his seat in about 2 seconds flat. A pro! I wouldn't hold out on seeing "Too Far Apart" on the broadcast; Mr. Tweedy famously/funnily failed to hit the last notes. But perhaps Jeff's kiss-blowing duet at the end of "Hummingbird" with a certain member of this message board will make the final cut? It'd be nice to see the entire show released on DVD in the future. The lighting, sound and performance were top notch.

This will be a wonderful television show.
  14. Good book. I don't think most people realize that Keith was traumatized for most of his adult life after accidentally killing his driver. I wound up with a spare copy of the book (pre-ordered it from the UK when it was released) about 10 years ago and it showed up in my mailbox as I was literally leaving the driveway to see Mike Watt, Nels and (Who fan) Bob Lee in Orlando. I gave the book to Bob before the show and his eyes lit up like a kid at Christmas. I think it even garnered a mention in one of Watt's old tour diaries.
  15. A friend from Florida is thinking about flying out for the festival and Saturday is sold out. Thought I'd give VC a try before wading into the sewage-filled dungeon that is eBay.

  17. Bobb (sans bunny suit) backed Carla Bozulich when she opened several of the recent European Wilco shows. He's a fine chap.
  18. "Nels Cline is a genius." I didn't need to read any further.
  19. It's a great album. Highly recommended.
  20. There's always the ACL taping: "A parade of talent will be taping new shows around the Fest weekend in September, including The Arcade Fire, Wilco, Bloc Party, Regina Spektor, Crowded House, and Lucinda Williams."
  21. VLC will play just about anything. And it's free.
