  1. He really should, not like Lost Highway is going to go and put Stephen King in jail.
  2. LEAK THIS ALBUM STEPHEN, LEAK IT!
  3. Don't you just love this time of the year?
  4. I listened to Antics today. I like it front to back and think it's a solid pop record. But the highs on TOTBL make it better for me.
  5. A reminder (err not THE Reminder), Feist will be on Leno in a few mins.
  6. I think the music on both albums more than compensates for Banks's crappy lyrics
  7. I would start with You Forgot It In People, simply cause it was their breakthrough album and still most critically hailed. Then get the follow up S/T, and if you are really digging those check out the mostly instrument (Feel Good Lost) and b-sides (Beehives) albums. YFIIP and BSS are some of my favorite albums ever.
  8. I think her and Chan Marshall sound pretty similar sometimes, but I know what you mean.
  9. I think her and Chan Marshall sound pretty similar sometimes, but I know what you mean.
  10. In anticipation of the all out rock fest that will be going down at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel tonight... Sadly only listening to these because I know I'll hear about 3-4 songs pre-M&A but I guarantee I'll have fun at their show so whatevs
  11. According to what I have them filed under in my itunes, Tiny Time Machine is a demo from Figure 8, I think it also transformed into Suicide Machine, a song he played live. Our Thing is a b-side from the Waltz #2 single.
  12. People just seem to really like the instrumental version we have, me included. For me, it's insanely catchy and sounds so upbeat for an Elliott song, it just feels like it could have been a really transcendental song (well it is for me anyways, but vocals would have taken it to another level). Plus, when that guitar kicks in around 3:05, oh man it's all over, I'm in love. I don't think it was played live, but people have surmised that "My New Freedom", an unreleased live song, could possibly be an earlier incarnation of SYIH.
  13. After a couple listens, I can safely say this song rocks my socks.
  14. See You in Heaven seems to have become the Holy Grail for a lot of Sweet Addy folks, but I'm pretty sure Jennifer Chiba has said she doesn't think Elliott ever recorded vocals for it, but a guy from a magazine (Uncut I think) said when he was interviewing Elliott, he played it in his car and sang along with the music. Who knows, Larry has said it will take him about a year to sort through all the other tapes.
  15. Just wait, they'll definitely be out there soon. If they follow the post-AGIB tour schedule (i.e. at least 2 solid years of touring) you'll have plenty of opportunities to see them.
  16. Seeing ALTWYS twice makes me sad Anyway, the only Wilco song I skip all the time is What Light.
  17. May 8. Amazon has some pretty good liner notes up on their site. Also, here's Uncut's review. It would have been cool if a mastered version of See You in Heaven with vocals showed up (for those who haven't heard this unreleased gem: http://www.sendspace.com/file/my8a59 - sadly it seems Elliott never got around to recording a vocal track for this )
  18. Two discs of unreleased songs from the Elliott Smith and Either/Or era and two solo performances of songs from Mic City Sons. A lot of these have been heard before, but they sure sound fantastic, and the songs I hadn't heard I'm really enjoying Riot Coming, All Cleaned Out, New Monkey, Either/Or, Go By, High Times are all standouts for me right now, but that could change by tomorrow Anyone else been listening to this?
  19. My girlfriend really liked Dylan/Raconteurs, and although it wasn't the best Wilco show I've been to, it wasn't horrible. Certainly better venues out there though.
  20. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes. But really, Pfork gets it on the mark more often than people give them credit for. I agree with them around half the time. However, the attitude of some of the writers sometimes leaves something to be desired.
  21. Yeah I like the album, but Let It Die has the better uptempo songs.
  22. How was this insinuated by the original poster? Anyway, I would say the beat in Simple X is similar to the beat in Kid A, especially live versions, so yeah they do bear a resemblance but I don't think anyone besides Andrew knows if the song was influenced by it.
  23. How you feelin about this? I think the standout track is Moth in a Cloud of Smoke (which I love), but nothing else seemed very immediate.
