  1. The end of Parting of the Sensory Missed the Boat and Little Motel are beeeaautiful. So many rocking songs...listening to Fly Trapped in a Jar and it's classic Isaac ranting. Florida even has Other People's Lives-type harmonics faintly in the back and Spitting Venom has Isaac bending harmonics like the old days. And now I am hearing some in Education (probably my least fave so far but nonetheless still a solid tune).
  2. This is finally out there, maybe my most anticipated album of 2007 (and that's saying a lot with this year's music). I'm predisposed to worship anything Isaac does, but this is the best release I've heard so far this year, and quite possibly in a really long time, better than anything in 2006. Sounds more like vintage MM than Good News, every song through was really on solid on first listen. I really liked Dashboard already, but there are so many songs on here that surpass that and just blew me away the first time I heard them. Only on 2nd listen, but I'm gonna be playing this really heavy
  3. Haha nice to see it stayed as "Walken." And I dunno if I want You Are My Face to be some fantastic new song we haven't heard or for it to be LNGCA.
  4. You Brits are funny. ^ How are the Suburban Kids with Biblical Names? One of my friends was saying good things as well.
  5. Perfect From Now On Lonesome Crowded West Either/Or, Elliott Smith, or XO Those are my anytime albums.
  6. No MA? Hopefully somewhere in those spots between NY and such.
  7. Ahhhh! Must get new Ted Leo! Anyone want to hook me up? AF, Dino Jr, and now this is out there? Has been a good few days for me.
  8. I listened to this again today, and I just need to reiterate how unbelievable it is. Did not see such a return to form coming at all. Almost Ready alone makes the whole album worthwhile, that guitar sound is so awesome and the chorus is damn catchy. Crumble, Pick Me Up, and This Is All I Came to Do could all work as singles, each one is awesome and I think any of the aforementioned songs could easily have been from the You're Living All Over Me/Bug era. I really dig We're Not Alone too, the end where he sings it over and over has been in my head all day. And I love that crunchy guitar sound
  9. Got myself a proper version and after the first spin through I can say I liked what I heard. Need more listens for it all to sink in, but I think it's definitely a solid album that while no Funeral, can still stand on its own. Intervention is a real strong single, and Antichrist Television Blues immediately grabbed me. A little disappointing that No Cars Go is not only the best song on the album, but the most uptempo, but hey you can't win em all and the rest of the songs in no way suck so it's all good.
  10. I recall Lou saying on his website J was still being J... Nice to have Dino back tho Digging that album cover too, just saw it for the first time in the NP thread.
  11. Dinosaur Jr. - Beyond Only on second listen but... I agree with Solace, this sounds like it could have been the follow up to Bug. And I also agree that it kicks all kinds of ass. I'm a student in Amherst and I want to go track down J and thank him for getting back with Lou, cause this album rocks.
  12. Yeah my vocals on Fire It Up are pretty good, I have to admit. I chose this username back before the Shins blew up. I regret my decision.
  13. Just cause it's similarly long and unwieldy. I like it, definitely a very Isaac title.
  14. After Alligator I became a really big fan, I think they are amazing. Matt is a fantastic songwriter. Sad Songs is really good, I'd say definitely better than their s/t. It's a really strong album start to finish. They seem to improve every album and the new one is due in May, so I have really high hopes.
  15. I assume you also hate the title of "This is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About"?
  16. Probably, they weren't too kind to Dashboard. I know I will at least enjoy We Were Dead because according to my ears, Isaac hasn't written one bad thing.
  17. Even though I love leaks, I didn't get around to Hissing Fauna until last week...maybe a bit purposefully so it felt like an 07 release for me. Yeah with soooo much good stuff coming out this year it will be tough. I know it's been said a million times, but 07 is gonna be riiiighteous. Wilco, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Okkervil River, Modest Mouse, Interpol, Built to Spill, Spoon, Bright Eyes, Wolf Parade, Sufjan Stevens, Ryan Adams, New Pornographers, Ted Leo, The National, The Wrens. I bet at least 1/3 of these will be amazing.
  18. In response to Neon Bible, disappointed to hear it doesn't reach heights of Funeral but hopefully I'll still find it really enjoyable (haven't listened to any of it yet). I wanted more Rebellions, Tunnels, and Power Outs though np: This will definitely stick around as one of my top albums of 07.
  19. I had listened to Hot Chip once and it didn't do much, but it was so ubiquitous on year end lists I tried it again and still couldn't get into it. Other stuff I have picked up: Tokyo Police Club - listened to it once, gonna have to give more listens to that but sounds pretty good Beach House - haven't listened yet Girl Talk - my friends loved this and I finally got around to it and holy crap is it amazing.
  20. I like this. The title track is killlllller.
  21. As of August 2005 when I got this computer, my Top 25 Most Played Songs on Itunes are: 1. Modest Mouse, "A Life of Arctic Sounds" 2. Wolf Parade, "You are a Runner and I am My Father's Son" 3. The National, "Mr. November" 4. The Strokes, "You Only Live Once" 5. Elliott Smith, "Say Yes" 6. Elliott Smith, "The Biggest Lie" 7. Wolf Parade, "Disco Sheets" 8. Elliott Smith, "Needle in the Hay" 9. Islands, "Rough Gem" 10. Tapes n Tapes, "Insistor" 11. The Unicorns, "Jellybones" 12. Elliott Smith, "St. Ide's Heaven" 13. The Futureheads, "Hounds of Love" 14. The Got Team, "Ladyflash" 15. Interpol, "
